MOD POST: MAY EVENTS + INFO REVAMPS
Hey guys! It's that time again! First, we'd like to remind you that Activity Check is almost up! You have til 11:59pm CST of May 1 to submit your activity, and all activity has to have taken place in April (meaning you have about 24 hours now to put the last few comments on those straggler threads). Remember that even exempt characters or characters taking strikes need to comment on time or they will be on the sweep list. Thanks!
Second, the schedule has been updated to include both May & June overviews! June event dates may still get shifted if something comes up between now and the last week of May, but it should be all set! Also, note that we've added a quick reference for IC dates. Using it and some math, hopefully you'll be able to tell when things are happening according to the native calendar! :)
Third, we are in the process of revamping the info pages, mostly in design but partly with updated info. The FAQ has been mostly reorganized, but it's missing the links to other pages etc. For World Info, what's written up so far is currently on the Story So Far page, but the info there will be moved to the World Info FAQ and the Story So Far page will have its timeline updated. It will also include a meter of how colourful the city's gotten, and info on the way the "story arcs" of the main plot will be laid out. Also, the Houses & Powers info is getting a major redo with more in-depth details on both the gods and their powers, so look for that coming up hopefully before apps open! If you have any questions or subjects you think should be laid out in the FAQ, feel free to ask them on the main FAQ page and we'll work them in if possible!
And now, on to the May events!
From Day 82 - Day 84/May 14 - May 19, there will be a special performance by, well, everyone! This event is entirely opt-in, and will proceed as follows:
Day 82/May 14-15: There's a tune in your head you can't get out. It's not necessarily a specific tune - it could be anything that's really annoying to get out of your head, whether it be I Shot the Sheriff or Spice Girls. It's just that there is something that will not get out. Irritating, but not... dangerous. Unless you'd claw your own brains out to stop hearing that fucking Numa Numa song.
Day 83/May 16-17: You might catch yourself singing bars of that song! It seems like everyone's talking in more of a singsong too - a little overexaggerated. Weird, but not too bad. Just weird.
Day 84/May 18-19: The good news is that there's no longer a song in your head. The bad news is that... sometimes you might feel compelled to break into an entire song about how you feel about something, Broadway style. This may involve dancing as well if you'd like; if you need examples of how this works, think something like this!
The effect will be totally gone after that, with no ill effects!
It's been awhile since the last House Contest, and the gods have noted how grumpy everyone usually is about events. They've also noticed that some people are awfully antisocial, and that isn't getting things healed quickly at all! So on Days 89 - 90/May 28-31, they'll be initiating a competition to share the love!
Characters will not be notified that it's a contest at all, so it'll be completely surprising when they wake up on Day 89 to find themselves feeling very... cuddly. The effect is inversely proportional to how affectionate the character usually is: characters who are normally friendly and loving will just feel a little more touchy-feely than normal, while characters who are misanthropic and antisocial will find themselves strongly compelled to hug everyone they see!
On Day 89/May 28 - 29, the hug impulse will be simply that. Characters will want to give out plenty of nice, chaste, appreciative hugs! However, on Day 90/May 30 - 31, things will get a little sticky. Every hug will leave the two characters involved stuck together! They'll be glued until both of them smile, at which point they'll be able to go about their business as normal. Two characters who have gotten stuck together once won't be stuck again, so they can hug each other multiple times with no extra effect!
In order to give out house prizes, we'll be doing a tally like we did for Valentine's Day! On May 21 we'll put up a post here in the OOC comm, so people can comment and tell us how many people their characters hugged! NPCs count, so ballpark numbers are totally fine. We'll count up how many hugs were given out, and the House that hugged the most will get a prize to be announced when the winner goes up (this one will apply to all individuals, so even those who've moved out of their Welcome Hall will get the benefit). This event is also opt-in. If you'd rather your character be unaffected, that's just fine, but any hugs they give out won't count towards the competition!
