February Events, Businesses, and Levels Up!
Hi guys! It's February 1 now, and you know what that means -- the monthly event rundown! But we have more changes in store for you guys since we've made it two months, so open the cuts to read on!
February 2-3 is our next House Contest, but the real contest is right now! See, on Day 31, characters will wake up to find a poster stuck to the inside of their doors (and a faint scent of alcohol in the air). It has basic geometric art drawn with coloured markers, and it reads as follows:
That's right-- Loki & Thor (the gods themselves, yes) have come up with a house contest for the young-at-heart after a few pints too many. The answer to each riddle is the item the characters have to find, and the riddles are based on either the local god's traits or on their "real" mythology (as a jab at the people who assume they're the exact same as the actual Norse gods).
Now, the important part is that the winner of this contest will be determined OOCly prior to the log. From now until the log goes up arouhnd midnight CST tomorrow (Feb 2), we'll be accepting riddle answers via our main mod email (asgardmods@gmail.com), with the subject line "Scavenger Hunt Riddles". Emails with the wrong subject may not be taken into account, so please use this subject without any modifications. Each mun may send in guesses for up to three riddles, and must attribute any wins to a particular character. We'll allow one answer to be "awarded" (as in, to have their character be the first in their house to guess) per mun, even if all three of your guesses are right! For example, if Tosshi were eligible (and mods are not for this event), she could send in a guess for the Thor, Sigyn, and Freyr riddles, and say she'd like to attribute any wins to Kanda in Thor. If she got them all right, the mods would still only give her the "win" on one. This way, every player gets a chance to guess!
We'll keep track of which characters have which questions awarded to them (for example, we'd note that Yuu Kanda guessed Sigyn's riddle first in Thor), and the house which has a full set of awarded guesses first will win. This does mean that if you sent in answers to questions and someone in your house had already answered all of them, you wouldn't be able to "win" that question. Your character would still be welcome to guess correctly, they just wouldn't be the first in their house to do so!
When the log goes up tomorrow, we'll be listing the winners of each question in each house, as well as the contest winner, along with the answers to the riddles! At that point, you can play out any shenanigans you wish with your characters finding the items. There'll still be plenty to do even with the winners crowned from the start, don't worry! :) More details will come with the log, since the rest would spoil the riddle answers.
One last note though. Please don't share answers on this! Since it's a timed thing, it wouldn't be fair for someone to guess and let all of their friends copy their answers. :( We'll be deleting any guesses posted in this entry, but we ask you to please, please not post them on plurk or anywhere else either until after the answers are revealed! There's no punishment for cheating, but it'd just good sportsmanship to keep mum in this case!

On the morning of Day 37, each character will wake to find two cute, heart-decorated boxes in their rooms! The first, smaller box contains an infinite number of cheesy valentines cards (the little cheap kiddy ones you fold over and seal with a sticker), with a to: and from: space on them. Any card filled out with a character's name (or a nickname the writer actually uses) in the "to:" section and absolutely anything written in the "from:" section will disappear when sealed and end up in the recipient's larger box! The large box can't be opened and seems to hold an infinite amount, but a number seemingly written in sparkles on top will change depending on how many valentines are in the box. Characters can send as many valentines to as many people as they want -- send one each to everyone you know, or a hundred to the object of your affections, it doesn't matter!
At least, it doesn't seem to matter at first. Go downstairs, and characters will find the public areas of their Hall decorated in red and pinks and white for the holiday, with glitter and hearts in abundance. They'll also see a big banner in the living room, reading as follows:

At 8:00pm ICly, all Travellers will find themselves bedecked in formalwear that suits their tastes, and the doors to the castle ballroom will open. Court members will be transported against their will and find themselves unable to leave the ball until 9:00pm, when the King and Queen are announced. Everyone else is allowed to come and go or not attend at all as they please. Note that the couples involved don't have to be one guy and one girl, so someone might end up cross-dressing.
There is an OOC process for this event, too!. Plot as you will starting now, and on Sunday the 5th we'll put up a comment-screened post for you to tell us how many valentines your characters are sending to whom. We'll tally the numbers on the 12th and PM the winners to make sure they're up for the event, then when the log goes up on the 14th we'll be listing the Court within it. We'll also be putting up a "what are you wearing" meme in the meme comm shortly.
February 18-21 is our second plot event! The weather will suddenly drop to very low temperatures suddenly, and there'll be some visitors from Thrymheim in the form of a small monster invasion! More about this plot will be released closer to it, but it will be a crisis situation with combat involved and possible death.
And too important to hide behind the cut are two new pages on the mod journal. Businesses and Leveling Up are now available! Details on them are on the respective pages, but you're welcome to ask questions in the respective questions threads in this posts.
And one last thing is just a tip as far as powers: we've noticed there's been confusion about what exactly Freya's power transfer is actually transferring. The answer is: energy. This thread has a pretty good explanation of it that we'll try to work into the powers page soon. We haven't heard of any other major confusions, but if you have them don't be afraid to ask!
Also, Activity Check ends at 11:59pm on Feb 1, so if there are any stragglers out there, they need to go check in now, even if you're a new character this last round! AC is here. All removed characters should be processed and rooming up before apps open in the 5th!

Feeling like some February Fun? Well, we've hidden an item in each district for you to find! Bring them to the altar at the Welcome Halls, and whichever house gets all nine first will get a prize!
Here's some riddles to clue you in. Since you're all so concerned with what we're like in your worlds' myths, you can reference those to figure these out! We can't guarantee accuracy to your world's ideas, though! Especially since this is a magnificent adventure in the land of fine liquor!
Odin: "Glinting and golden, fit for a king--a status no other item could convey more clearly."
Thor: "Modern technology be damned, this light make a glorious mockery of me; now YOU can rule the lightning."
Loki: "A torturous and ironic price to pay, it drips for millenia to come."
Sigyn: "The glint and gleam of this fabled fruit could tempt any man, and the taste would far surpass the expectations."
Hel: "This makes a mockery of the frights of death. The flighted creatures in my realm of darkness have never been this... fake."
Heimdall: "My grill, or rather, a familiar steed's."
Freyr: "Dearest pet, I miss you so."
Freya: "It was almost more trouble than it was worth; but diamonds are a girl's best friend."
Baldr: "Purest plant in the crispest snow; the bane of me.
