They are essentially coddling the Travellers because the people of Vanaheim don't agree with how the gods treat them, so it will take some convincing to show they they aren't helpless children. Maybe he should kick his ass that extra measure and then tell them to give him a real fight, because he isn't some weakling that needs protected!
