MOD POST: PLAYER POLL: ARC 4 AND ENDGAME
Hey, all! Faith here on her playe journal for yet another player poll. I know you guys love these silly polls of ours, but this one is one of the most important we will hold in Asgard Eventide's run. Pretend you don't notice my copying / pasting from the Mod HMD here.
As the Norn said at the end of Arc 3, Yggdrasil is falling apart and we now have to make a decision about what position to take in the path to Ragnarok. Arc 4 will begin in January, and though the overall storyline will follow Yggdrasil's collapse, it will also be pushing us closer to Ragnarok 2.0, which will likely take place in Arc 5 and ultimately conclude Asgard Eventide's run. Because of this significance, we are going to let you guys decide what direction the game takes as we move towards end-game.
To explain more about what's going on here and so you don't think we're up and abandoning the game, let's map things out a bit. Arc 1 was a year long story arc from Dec. 2011 to Nov. 2012 and was anticipated to be the lead into Ragnarok, the end of ends. Arc 2 was a six month story arc from Jan. 2013 to June and focused on rescuing Freyr's soul from Thiazi to resurrect our fallen ally. Arc 3 was a six month story arc from Aug. to Dec. and drove apart the Giants' forces as Yggdrasil fell into decay. Asgard has always been a plot driven game centred around Ragnarok bringing about the end of days, and this war has stretched on two years, going into its third. The battle has to be fought eventually, which is why our projected end date will be December 2014.
As such, the current plan is for Arc 4 to be another six month arc from Jan. 2014 to June, focusing on Yggdrasil's decline and the build up to Ragnarok's return. What form this build up takes depends on what you guys want to see happen. Your decision will determine not only the outcome of the war but the theme of the events leading up to it and the state of the world as events unfold. Without giving away too much information, your options are as follows:

There are a lot of pros and cons to each option, so there's a top-level comment for discussion and questions below. You guys can talk amongst yourselves to debate which direction to take, and we will do our best to answer any questions without giving too much away. Without further ado, your poll!
- Wait for the Giants to regroup and finish what they started. This would be a return to the general concept behind Arc 1, where the Giants launch assaults on the city in an effort to weaken the gods for destruction. Travellers would live under constant attack, and as Asgard is already halfway in ruin, this would decrease the comfort of living dramatically, taking on a more survivalist war tone.
- Militarise the city and launch the gods' assault on the Giants. The gods have always said the Travellers are not here to serve as their army, but they are sick of not being able to strike back because of how busy they are protecting their guests instead. If the Travellers were willing, they would transform the state of Asgard into the offensive. There would be high-risk missions, stricter standards of living, and increased demand for action from the Travellers.
- Do nothing and let Yggdrasil take its course. The gods represent Yggdrasil's spirit and the Giants represent her body; as the Mother falls into decay and ruin, all immortal beings will start to wither away with her. What exactly this spells for the Travellers living beneath this festering is unknown, but chances are it will leave them all more desperate than ever.
- Other. If you have any ideas, let us know below and we can discuss matters. No guarantees, but with enough player response and mod discussion, we might be able to work something out.
