Unicorns are enormous, goatish things with shaggy black fur. Their single horn is more weapon than delicate point, capable of goring and gouging at any who threaten it. Large enough to be used as mounts of war, even direwolves (predators themselves the size of ponies) meet difficulty taking one down.

Found only on Westeros' northern island of Skagos, unicorns are well-adapted to harsh terrain. They live in a frozen, desolate land named after its own barren stone, and inhabited by isolated cannibals of legendary viciousness.

Rare in recent years, few in Westeros have ever seen a unicorn alive, but their existence is well-known, and their horns are greatly prized. Their meat is appa-Renly (get it) edible. Skagosi have been recorded to ride unicorns into battle in the place of warhorses, speaking to both the beasts' natural intimidation, and their lingering ability to be tamed.
