MOD POST: JUNE EVENTS + REMINDERS!
Hi guys! It's that time again! :) One of the June events is super close, so read this asap! BUT FIRST, we have a couple of standard reminders.
1: Remember to tag your posts! This includes posts you comment on and logs you participate in! It's important for various reasons, so we'd really like it if you guys would do your best to keep up. Also, always make sure when tagging other characters names into a post that you use their existing tag if there is one to avoid having extra tags. If you notice a typo tag or a character with two tags, let the mods know so we can clean it up.
2: Remember to post your drops/hiatuses! It is a major pain in the butt when people drop without using the drop post. Please don't idle if possible! Dropping makes things easier for everyone, and it's only one short form. Do not make an ooc post instead of commenting to the drop page. OOC comm drop notices are great when you want to make them, but they are not a substitute for using the forms. The same goes for hiatuses: we'd rather you take a just-in-case hiatus and then actually make activity than not take a hiatus and then have to ask us to make exceptions for you. We're not obligated to say yes to those exceptions and we only will if you had a genuine extenuating circumstance, so it's better to make sure your hiatuses are officially posted.
3: Make sure your Taken List info is correct! Again, we swept journals that weren't on the taken list the other day. While most of these were drops and a few were mistakes (and please let us know if you were one of those mistakes), there were also some that were new characters who never commented to the lists. We also had a few cases of people putting their personal journals, canons, or other things instead of the correct usernames, which were all manually fixed while working on the sweep. Just be careful when you fill out the form and be sure you do fill it out. Same for rooming!
That's all for reminders! And now, on to the June Events!
On Day 91 (June 1-2), it seems that you wont' be getting a break after the hugs quite yet! Some members of the population will be waking up to find themselves... changed. Characters will have physically become the age they usually act. This is obviously not something "exact", and it's meant to be light-hearted and completely opt-in. If your 13-year-old character seems more mature than you'd expect, have them be in an adult body. If your 30-year-old likes to throw tantrums, have them in a small child's body -- whatever you'd like! Again, this is a totally optional mini-event, so no stress!
From the evening of Day 95 (June 10) to the morning of Day 99 (June 17), Asgard will be covered in water! Not to say that the entire city will be submerged of course, but instead everything on ground level will be submerged under a good foot or so of water. (For a bit of a visual, here is an image.) As for where exactly all the water came from, that's up to the residents decide, though it might be interesting to keep in mind that there is a river near the city after all. Then again, could a river even bring enough water to flood the entire city...? Well in any case, residents' daily lives in general may be interrupted as a number of (NPC-run) shops will close due to the influx of water, and not even the House Halls first floors will be safe from the flood. Granted, with the summer heat starting to approach, maybe it'll be a fun chance to play in the water!
This plot is being run by
acquamarina, so she's in charge of plotting questions! Thanks very much to Kaye for the idea and the write-up! :) Remember, if you're ever interested in running a plot, drop us a line at the suggestions page!
On Day 102 at Dawn (June 23), a select few Travellers will find themselves waking up someplace that's definitely not their bed. They'll be in a patch of forest roughly a mile in diameter, in a clearing on the bank of a river. Should they leave the forest, there will be no road or city in sight. With them is only very basic camping gear: a pup tent, a sleeping bag, and a backpack with a couple of sandwiches and juice boxes and a small first aid set for each character. There's nothing to do about it: you'll be roughing it until you can find your way to other people.
That evening (June 24), the source of your trouble will appear: it seems Baldr has been let off his grounding and followed through on his threat to send you out into the woods. However, in retaliation he's been sent by his father to join his victims, and stripped of all of his powers besides apparent immortality. For that night, camping will be pretty normal -- besides a strange sound like distant whispers in the dark.
In the morning (June 25), there will be a faint smell of rotten eggs. It will get stronger over the next hour or two until suddenly, the camp site will go up in flames. It seems the campers have been found by enemies -- and well-fitted ones. It's clearly a military scouting party, made up of a good twenty small, imp-like creatures that crumble into yellow dust when killed (the source of the smell), two ghost-like wraiths made of pure flame, and a group of five people who look almost human, besides the heat radiating from their bodies and the ever-changing flame colours of their eyes. The party is led by one particularly ferocious woman who has fire magic that matches up to a Level 3 Traveller. Could it be a sign of the War to come?
The campers won't be able to escape without defeating their opponents, and either way the forest will be set ablaze. Their best bet then is to run and be glad the scrubland outside the forest is barren and rocky enough not to catch fire itself. There, they'll have to spend the night again.
On the third morning (June 27), a section of the air near the campers will start to ripple, and then glow in iridescent light. It's a portal back to the City, and if the characters go through it they'll find themselves in the Castle Plaza.
It is possible and even likely for characters to die in this event. Should your character die, please keep in mind the consequences for multiple deaths, as they do apply here. They did not, however, apply in the March "proving a point" plot, so if your character got their powers back and died in that plot, it's not counted towards the normal consequences. ALSO, only 20 characters will be sent on this camping trip. Sign-ups are below and are not first come first serve, so even if over 20 people have signed up, you can still go for it. We'll announce the participating characters by June 16 so they have a week ahead to plan. You have til then to sign up. Further details are in the sign-up comment below!
And that's all for June! As always, mod questions comments will be below, so hit us up if you're confused!

Let's say a character has level 3 shadow control. Are there any restrictions on what they can do during the flood? Theoretically speaking let's say they made an animal and used it to cross water. IS THIS POSSIBLE?

Conan's a little under a metre high, maybe less. Is the water higher than he is?
Is there any chance the floor is caused by a large amount of ice being brought into the city/near the city secretly and then melted by a great heat?

Someone should rope him into creating ice paths and rinks (yes, for SKATING) for everyone during the floods. At least if he has to go anywhere, he can always walk on ice.
Also, ICE MAGE PARTY.
And he's not unsatisfied enough with the technology to join you happy campers. Oh well.

and I'll have to talk to other players in the current "corpse-finding plot." I think we're supposed to find Corpse #2 pretty soon, but it might be interesting if there were any way that we could wait until the flood. It's supposed to be an old corpse, so the flood could wash it up.

I mean, Rory acts his age but uh. tbh, Sebastian does not act 42. I'm not sure what I'd age him down to, but it's happening because bb Fassbender exists and I'm sure it will be hilarious.
Hilarious.
