MOD POST: JANUARY EVENTS + NEW FEATURES + ANNOUNCEMENTS
Hey guys! It's that time again: the monthly rundown! This month is going to be a little busy, so please bear with us on these walls of text.
First I'm going to go over the miscellaneous announcements.
Now, as promised we also have some new features to unveil! I'll go over them briefly here, but please follow the links to get the full information. All of these features will be ICly available as of January 1, so please wait til then to implement them.
AND LASTLY, the plots for this month. Remember, this month will determine the course of the overarcing plot from here on out, so please pay close attention! The full calendar can be found here!
On Day 198 (Jan 1) just before dawn, something sparkly will be happening! After this event Runic Magic will be a fully available feature.Further details to come within the next couple of days! EDIT: There is a post about this here!
On the evening of Day 203 (Jan 12), a very important NPC post will be hitting the network! Within that post will be a lot of major plot info, including a few key elements of the whole overarcing plot. The post will also be an IC discussion, as a big option's going to come up. Most of the details will be revealed then, but the very outline is this: the Travellers will be able to choose between trying to bring Freya & Freyr back to the city OR to eliminate Freya before she rips the city apart. There will be an OOC poll put up when the NPC post goes up, and the direction the plot goes in will be determined by that poll. We'll also be polling you guys on how you'd like to see the other two overarcing plot events of this arc spaced out. Again, more details when the plot hits! :)
Later in the month, it's time again for a House Contest, though this one is also practical! Due to very heavy snowfall on Days 200-201 followed by constant sun at below-freezing temperatures, by Day 209 (Jan 23-24) the city's going to have a serious ice problem! In order to get it cleaned up, the gods will ask the Travellers for ideas, offering rewards for the most and best solutions. There will be an NPC post to kick it off, and an open mingle for characters to try out their ideas.
Players will be able to submit their characters' solutions from Jan 23 through Jan 26, and on Jan 27 we'll announce the winners. There will be a prize for every member of the House that submits the most solutions, and another for the ones which had the "most helpful" and "most creative" solutions. This means 3 Houses will get prizes, to be announced at that time. The prizes will be useful to every House member, not just those in the Welcome Hall. Solutions submitted by a group of characters will count for every member of the group.
And that's all for this month! Reserves open on December 30 and AC will be up on December 26. Again, keep an eye out for the Runic Magic details soon, and have some happy holidays!

- Holiday AC Passes: When Activity Check goes up this round it's going to be a simple check-in. Absolutely everyone who shows up gets a pass and we won't be asking for proofs at all. Since December is the time of final exams and holiday business, we figured it would be nice for both players & mods to give a blanket activity forgiveness. You will still have to check in, but that's only to take care of true idlers so their characters will be up for apping in January.
- Utgard Trips: Though we'd planned to have these before, it ended up falling through. So now going into the new year there will be two standard monthly logs. In addition to the intro log, on the 1st of every month we'll be posting an Utgard mingle for anyone who goes there during the month. This should help make it easier for people to arrange their characters traveling, since they are still free to at any time.
- The Library: We've heard mention of a few different people planning to maybe get into the restricted parts of the library. Anyone who had an IC plot going in that direction, whether they've talked to us before or not, should please check into the appropriate plotting comment on this post. We're going to get the place open but rather than just open it we'd like to work with the existing player plotting. Thank you!
- Tag Your Participation: As always we'd like to remind people to use their comm tags for every entry they participate in in
asgardeventide or
asgardmeridiem. This makes it easier for your CR to keep track of you and for the mods to verify your presence in the case of list maintenance hiccups. As of this post the tags in both of those comms have been cleaned up, so please make sure you're using a consistent format in your tags. If there are any remaining double tags or any accidentally deleted/merged ones, please let us know!

- Long-Distance Trade: This is less a new feature and more just an update & reminder. If you notice that a neutral/allied location on the world info faq deals in tech or other things that Asgard doesn't have, you're always welcome to ping the mods for permission to obtain it. This includes things like higher-grade practical metalwork/armor from Svartalfheim, personal clockwork items from Alfheim, etc. If you have an idea just ask us and we'll do our best to get it to you so long as it's within the rules.
- SOS Mode: SOS mode is a new bracelet function in case of emergencies. Using it signals distress to both the gods and other travellers and opens a group video feed to coordinate helping the person who used it. SOS Mode will be a whole new type of network post and has its own special comm tag for anyone who wishes to track it.
- Licenses: This has been an off-the-menu feature for some time now, as we've test run it with the players who asked for it. Now it's a fully developed feature! We'll be keeping track of most of these licenses so even if you already had one please go fill out the form so you're "official". You'll note that along with this feature comes an exciting subfeature: driving! As of Jan 1 characters will be able to obtain a driver's license and bring any sort of motorized scooter/bike into the city. Those characters who brought a disabled bike with them on arrival or got one during a gifts from home event will find those vehicles in working order as of Jan 1.
- Shrine Blessings: It's been brought to our notice several times in the past that some players are unable to level their characters up due to ooc time constraints or are uninterested in the level up system. In order to counteract that problem and give new characters a boost, we've come up with this alternate rewards system. Characters can now pray at the shrine on their Welcome Hall grounds for one bonus per OOC month. Low-level rewards are made to compensate for that low level and high-level rewards are material luxuries for established characters. Note that "pray" is just a loose term. Just asking for the blessing is plenty.
- Runic Magic -

2) What kind of effect would the ward have when someone IS using Telepathy? Like, if someone goes into the room do they go off the mental grid or is it the Telepath can tell they're thinking something but they can't actually read the thoughts? Also, would the Telepath still be able to read emotions or is it thoughts+emotions that are blocked?

There's been other references to the info she's gotten access to, along with conversations on the subject with Hel, Loki and Rose prior with attempts to get access legally and then the plot. I can list them all if you need. Holler if there's any problems.

Note: Rose Lalonde and Sam have copies of the keys. Aladdin and Castiel are aware of some of the information she has acquired through IC conversations.
