MOD POST: App Change Verdict
Hey guys! Calendars and other such things are coming up soon, but since reserves open in a few hours, we're posting right now to tell you guys how and why the app process is changing.
First of all why: the flood of intros and getting settled for the entire first half of every single month is making plotting twice as hard. There's rarely a time when everyone is "settled" enough to get things done. Also, having apps every round means the cycle is faster and tighter for the mods, thus making all of our long-term projects take longer. Once we've finished all of the app cycle work (which is going on 3/4 of the month in some way or another), it doesn't leave us a lot of time and energy to do big projects in as timely a manner. However, since a lot of you feel very strongly about not moving to a bi-monthly cycle (and the mods feel strongly about not having a cap for number of apps per round), we've decided to make smaller changes in hopes of decreasing the amount of apps. This should also help with the turnover rate, where people frequently app and then immediately idle or drop.
The changes are simple, as follows: the number of characters a player can app per round has been decreased to one. You can still reserve two, so if you get rejected or lose a challenge you can submit a second app. In the case of challenges that have to wait til after apps close, we'll make a special allowance for the loser to send in a different app within 24 hours. It's a short amount of time, but it's more allowance than we had previously, so please consider that before putting your entire app round onto a challenge.
In addition, existing players may only app if they have passed the last AC. Exemptions count as passes (unless we notice a pattern of unfairly taking advantage of them, which will be handled case by case), but you'll have to link to your previous month's AC to prove that you didn't get any strikes. For example, this coming May round you'll need to provide a link to your April AC comment in order to app more characters.
These changes have already been put onto the Application and Reserves pages. A line for AC Proof links has been added to the template, so keep that in mind too. Thanks for putting up with us and we're sorry for any inconvenience the changes cause. :) Hopefully slowing things down will help us to help you in other areas!

This should probably go in the suggestions post but I thought it was relevant and yeah, that.
