MOD POST: JULY EVENTS + ANNOUNCEMENTS
Hey guys! We’ve got your calendar ready here for July, and there’s a lot of fun stuff going on right from the gate, so make sure to check it out! Please note: We are having a fourth wall/visitors event that will allow characters who are not in the game temporary access into it. What happens in this event will be game canon, and the event will take place July 5-11. Some of the plot details are listed in the run-down, but we will post more of the specific details just a little bit closer to the actual date in a separate post for easier consumptions for those not in the game!
First of all, a few tiny housekeeping notes!
Otherwise, with Arc 2 wrapped up and Arc 3 just beginning, we’re going to have a comment section below for feedback! What did you like, what didn’t you like, what could we improve, etc? Throw it all at us - we want to make the game as awesome as possible, and that involves getting feedback from our players! No matter how large or small you think it might be, we would love to hear it all. (And if you’re not comfortable discussing it with us here, remember that we’re always available via email, PM, private plurk, or carrier pigeon!)
As we move on to the next part of the plot, remember that as of the per the results of the player poll we had back in April that Arc 3 will feature one large plot event and one smaller special event, with a darker, more war-based tone overall. Any feedback about that is also welcome below!
Finally, we just want to go ahead and readvertise the NPC apps that are open! The God NPCs are a great way to get involved in the game, to help with worldbuilding, and to cause a little chaos sometimes, too! Please keep in mind that NPCs are not held to usual AC standards -- we do not expect a set number of comments per month or tag reporting, we just ask that you are available enough to tag when you can. We will never, ever ask you to prioritize an NPC over your own character(s), so if you are interested (or think you just might be interested), feel free to app away or ask any questions you might have!
Okay!! With that said, let’s look at the events we have for July! The calendar can be found here.
SPECIAL EVENT - Triumph and Travelers:
On Days 290-293 (July 4-11), the natives will begin to close down most of their shops and stores and instead set up booths and stalls all over the city streets. The city is shutting down and partying for three days to celebrate Freyr’s return and the triumph of the Travelers against Thiazi. Bright lights and decorations will be put up across every district in the respective colours of their patron god along with an underlying theme of Freyr and Freya’s dark purple and rouge. There will be music, games, dancing, and an impressive fireworks display each night, visible throughout the entire city.
On the night of Day 290 (July 5), a minor earthquake will rumble through the city, only strong enough to shift glassware a bit or rustle the leaves. The natives will seem surprised but unalarmed and continue the festivities as normal. During the night’s fireworks, people will begin to pop! into the world in arbitrary places - the park, the lake, maybe even in your bathroom! Guards and maids will rush to deliver these unexpected visitors bracelets with gray stones. The new arrivals are not linked to any certain god house and will not be awarded any powers, but it seems as if they’ll be sticking around for a few days -- at least, until the gods can get the mess sorted out!
A mingle log will go up for the party and for the visitor’s event, but you are absolutely welcome to make individual posts to the network if you would like! Visitors will be able to comment into the mingle log, onto network posts, and contact characters’ IC inboxes, but they will not be able to create any posts of their own. Characters who app in and are accepted during this time will simply be allowed to remain in game, and will be assigned and room and given a permanent bracelet by the maids.
Some quick notes and guidelines:
1) Duplicates are fine - timelines have always been a little wonky in Asgard, so with the magic pulling travelers in going a little haywire, that's just to be expected!
2) We do allow personal OCs and canon AUs (such as Cloud in Kingdom Hearts vs Cloud in Final Fantasy VII.) We do not allow canon OCs or personal AUs.
3) No personal journals or explicit fourth-wall breaking. This is more of an IC Visitor's Event and less than a true "fourth wall," so everything that happens in this will become and remain game canon!
4) Please keep in mind the rules about humanization of non-human characters, such as sentient animals and robots, and rules about character powers. Asgard is a power-loss game, where characters lose their powers and gain new ones granted by the gods. Visitors in the event won’t have a certain god house or power (unless they app in!), so they will be depowered for the duration of the event.
5) Characters that own and keep technology on them are welcome to bring it with them! Just keep in mind that technology a) of internet/network access and b) is limited to what is available in the modern world. If your character owns a supercomputer laptop, it will revert to just having normal laptop capabilities when brought to Asgard!
Otherwise, here’s the premise, game rules, and FAQs! We will have a more detailed info post go up a little closer to the event with the nitty-gritty details of what to expect and how visiting characters will be brought into the city of Asgard.
PLOT EVENT - Somebody's Poisoned the Water Hole!:
On July 15 and 16, characters might start to notice that they’re feeling a little.. unwell. The spy captured and detained in the last Arc will have used the chaos of the festival, earthquake, and visitors to escape, and is trying to do some damage before he makes his break from the city! Characters that own apothecaries or pharmacies might notice a window broken and supplies missing, as the spy steals chemicals (magical and otherwise) at random to dump haphazardly into the city’s water system.
Your character might begin to notice that he or she is feeling sick, though the severity of the illness is up to you - the spy will be aiming to sicken as many people as possible, so his methods aren’t precise. The different chemicals dumped in different districts have the potential to affect everyone differently and at different levels of severity, though the Natives (both colored and gray) will be visibly hit hard. Symptoms can manifest as virtually anything: fever, burns, asphyxiation, fainting spells, whatever you’d like!
July 16-17 will be a single IC day to allow people to react to the sickness and for the medical centres to start looking for an antidote, and July 18-19 will be spent trying to correct the damage that the spy has done to the city. The hospital and clinic are welcome to start handing out those antidotes / healing the afflicted wherever they can. One of the gods will be making a post on the network to give the Travellers some help with cleaning the water system and apprehending the escaped spy before he makes a break for Utgard.
We will need three volunteers for re-catching the spy! He’s not terribly clever or strong, but he is one man out to do a lot of hurt, and the gods are leaving it up to you guys to deal with him once again. These volunteers will need to plot together before the event to decide whether or not they return the spy to the city or kill him outright before he has a chance to do more harm. Please let us know what direction you guys decide to take!
There will be a top-level comment to sign up for this volunteer position below. Out of courtesy to your fellow players, if your character has been recently chosen for a volunteer position, please do not sign up for this one just to give others a fair chance at it! There will be many more volunteer opportunities in the future, rest assured.
And the last event seen on the calendar will be announced a little closer to time, but will remain a mystery until then! As usual, if you have any comments or concerns (or would just like to start some plotting with other players!), feel free to use the comments section of this post. We hope you have fun, and here’s to a new Arc, guys!
First of all, a few tiny housekeeping notes!
- Make sure to hit up the hiatus post when you take a hiatus! We’ll always do our best to work with you during activity check, especially when things come up unexpectedly, but having hiatuses documented makes things a lot easier across the board.
- Speaking of activity checks... June’s AC is up! Make sure to get your AC in before 11:59PM on July 1st!
- Remember that the Shrine Blessings are something available to all characters at any time, and that you don’t need to comment on the post to receive them (with the exception of the train tickets to other cities.) Don’t hesitate to use these at any time!
