Anyone want to plot a thing?
So I joined this community and promptly failed to do anything at all. Without some direction I'm kind of lost - I'm not good at small talk, and Roland is less than patient with it, usually. I have no idea how to jump into the community plot, but something a little smaller-scale might work.
Is there anything anyone wants to see their character do that they haven't had a chance to make happen? One old cowboy-knight's available to help, just kind of... wandering around.
(If this type of post isn't allowed here, I'll take it down. I wasn't sure.)

It's a little daunting to jump into a community this big at first, so don't worry about that.
The December Intro Mingle still has some folks posting to it, so you can definitely try that! It's a good way to sort of first get your bearings, and for your character to get theirs IC. It has been going on for a while, though, so you might have more luck tagging into some of the more recent network posts and threads.
If you like using (or just don't mind using!) social media sites like plurk, they're often where a lot of smaller one-on-one plotting happens, just because it's easy and speedy to talk to people that way OOC. It's not to everyone's taste, I know, but it might be worth considering.
I find that with characters disinclined to small talk and easy socializing, it really helps to sort of play up the circumstances around them. What situations would make them talk to someone? Or at least, stall them long enough to not flee into the sunset? Heck, maybe he got his tongue stuck to a lamp post.
...Alright, maybe not. It's been a while since I read the books.
I'd love to throw either Jaime or Albus at him, they're both in Alfheim right now, but they'll be back very soon. I'll work on brainstorming some stuff! If there's anything in particular that you really want to see Roland do, or any specific themes that you like playing with him, definitely let me know.
It's also worth noting that when that event's over, there will be a huge, IC feast -- which might be a good way to mingle and get him to meet people. Dive in for a chicken leg, get trapped in coversation, desperately try to make your way out of it and upend the table, etc.
I know at least one friend of mine was really excited to see you app, and we're all looking forward to getting to play with you.

As for things I'd like to see him do... I really don't know yet? I think right now my goal is knowing his character well enough to play him outside a familiar canon setting, but once I get used to this group I might decide on something.
The feast does sound like a good opportunity. Hmm.
And it's good to know there are more people familiar with his canon than I expected there to be! Thanks again!

Getting settled in is a good plan! It's tricky to get a handle on that kind of thing, especially for a character with such a long, rich history in his home setting. If the feast seems feas(t)ible, would it be okay for Jaime to bump into him there, maybe? Knightly folks have to stick together, and all ofthat.

And of course it would be okay! As long as you make no more puns. (I lie. That pun was amazing.) I look forward to it.

My characters are involved with a few things, so I can try to help you. Just PM me or we can discuss it here, whichever you prefer!
