AUGUST EVENTS + ANNOUNCEMENTS
Hello, hello! Faith here with your monthly rundown, but first, a few announcements!
First up, we have some policy changes in the works regarding applications and canon appearances to create a more clear-cut guideline for how much headcanon is acceptable in a canon character application. As this is a bit of a grey area and difficult to find a middle-ground that is fair all across the board, we will continue to discuss our options and have the new rules posted by the start of August's app round. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we figure this one out!
Second, as we welcome in Arc 3, we also want to introduce you guys to a new plot bunny, affectionately entitled Holes! It is exactly what is sounds like: Odin explained to everyone that the earthquake earlier this month tore holes in the veil between worlds, and though the gods managed to sew those holes up well enough, their magic is not powerful enough to seal them forever and things are starting to slip right through the cracks - things from your worlds. All of the details can be found on this page, so please take a look through it, as we are accepting suggestions for this month!
The calendar has Days 311 and 312 (August 15-18) marked down with an optional event. Whichever suggestion we accept this month will be given a tiny optional side-plot to introduce the concept of these new arrivals to both the Travellers and you as players so you'll understand how exactly this process works. It will be something very small and offhand that players can feel free to tinker with or not, but the option will remain there. So go ahead and start discussing your suggestions with your castmates; submissions will be open until August 3! If you want to be alerted for any future Holes progression, ie. new features and optional plots, track the tag !holes in this comm.
Third, just a little bit of housekeeping: we cleaned up the Navigation Page a little bit by adding a secondary directory, the Additional Important Pages ... page. Redundancy is fun, so long as it doesn't clutter up the main page! We'll try to keep only the most important things on the main page and add everything else to this new one so that you don't have to wade through a million things every time you're looking for Housing.
Lastly but certainly not least of all, a big huge massive thanks to Draggy for taking up the reigns for Surt and Heimdall. You rock, momma-mod!
That's all for now! Remember to post to the game-wide HMD as it closes at midnight tonight and is mandatory in order to pass AC, which is also up over here. The mod HMD thread is here and we appreciate any and all feedback you guys might have for us, especially in regards to the end of Arc 2!
Now onto the fun stuff. As always, the schedule can be found right yonder.
You guys may remember that in the July rundown, we left the last event on the calendar as a big question-mark for you. That's because July 31 marks the official beginning of Arc 3, and we are kicking this one off on a high note.
At the strike of midnight on Day 303 (July 31), a loud explosion can be heard coming from the heart of the city. Those that look outside will find that the castle of the gods has been near completely frozen over in a luminescent ice that spreads rapidly and covers the entire dome of the barrier within minutes - but the ice doesn't stop there. It continues outwards, crawling along the ground and up the sides of buildings, freezing any plant and animal life along the way that will shatter on impact. Natives will panic and try to fight it back with heat and blunt force but by sunrise, the ice will have spread towards the city proper.
And it doesn't stop there. Early Day 304 (August 1), Loki will make one final post to the network before the system collapses. All network functions will be inaccessible during this event. All other bracelet features will still operate as normal but the Travellers will not be able to post to the network or access each others' IC contact boxes. The Travellers will find themselves suddenly disconnected from each other and will have to rely on in-person interaction or any carrier pigeons they might have lying around while they fight back the ice that has at least slowed but continues its path outwards from the despairingly silent heart of the city.
The very next day on Day 305 (August 3), while everyone is still struggling to find their bearings, a fleet of lesser Frost Giants will descend upon the city in an effort to take over the city from outside while Thiazi's direct attack on the gods takes over from within. The ice is still moving and the Giants are vicious in their revenge from the infiltration into their home - and there is still no word from the gods.
That is, until the evening Day 307 (August 8) when the palace, still covered in ice, bursts into flame. The fire is more golden than red, the heat of which can warm one's cheeks all the way to the city gates, though it feels no warmer than a nice summer's day regardless of proximity. When the fire dies down, all of the remaining ice in the city will have been melted away by Odin's wrath, an anger matched only by the queen of the Frost Giants. Thiazi has decided to stop hiding behind Surt and is showing her hand, which can only mean wonderful things for the future of Asgard and Yggdrasil.
Some notes for this event:
With our resident trickster still on the mend after Thiazi's direct assault, the gods have decided to cause a bit of friendly mischief to cheer up their sickly colleague. Starting on Day 314 (August 21-22), Travellers will wake up feeling a bit more impish than might be their norm, with the slight inclination to swap someones' toothbrushes around or leave a plastic beetle in their shoes. Small jokes and pranks will escalate by evening and turn into all-out war by Day 315 (August 23-24) as the curse progresses.
This house contest seeks to find the biggest and most obnoxious of pranksters amongst the city's residents. It's encouraged for the pranks to be played on other god houses, but there's no rule saying you can't steal all of the left socks from your own Hall's laundry room. Whatever it is, make sure it brings mayhem and panic. Bonus points if it's caught on film! There will be a catch-all log for the prank wars, along with a top-level comment for players to submit their biggest and best pranks. Prizes will be awarded for Most Creative, Most Embarrassing, and Highest Victim Toll. Get out there and make some messes, Asgard, but don't expect the maids to clean up after you.
The network's glitches will end by Day 316 (August 25-26) right after this event as the emotions inspired from the pranks bring Loki back to ( nearly ) full health. Thank you for doing your civil duty, Travellers.
And that's it for August. Please feel free to use this post for any and all plotting, as our plot event this month will require a lot of logging to interact with each other. Let us know if you have any questions in the comments section below!

Some notes for this event:
- Any skin that comes in contact with the ice will immediately receive near-to second degree frostbite, and prolonged exposure will result in third to fourth degree frostbite. These injuries can only be healed by magical means to a first degree stage of frostbite. They will have to heal naturally after that point, so gear up and be careful as you chip away at the encroaching ice.
- We'll put up mingle logs for general interaction around the city during this event as well as for fighting the Frost Giants, but you guys can feel free to make your own logs as well!
- The network will come back up on Day 308 (August 9) but it may crackle and glitch every now and again, as Loki is still weak from Thiazi's attack. You guys can tinker around with misdirected/unsent messages or distorted voice/video feeds, pretty much anything that you might expect from having a crappy internet connection.
- EDIT because I hadn't even considered this oh gosh bless you, Rui: Characters that die during the event will still be revived! However, because of the frozen barrier, they will be trapped within the castle until Day 307 (August 8/9). Odin will have them assigned to a room in a corner of the castle where they will be confined and under 24 hour watch to make sure they don't leave their rooms. The maids will bring them three meals a day at regular times, but they will not speak to any of the Travellers and the Guards will not let them leave their rooms. They'll be released right after Odin burns away the rest of the ice the evening of Day 307. Contact us if you guys have any questions about this one!

HOLES: SUGGESTIONS
Remember that the chosen feature will be made permanent in-game, so discuss it with your castmates and choose wisely! Submissions will be open until August 3, at which point only one will be accepted by RNG. Fill out the form below to give your suggestion:
Re: HOLES: SUGGESTIONS
Character: Leo Valdez
Canon: Percy Jackson and the Heroes of Oylmpus
Feature: Pegasai
Description: Remember the myth of Pegasus? In the world of Percy Jackson this legendary winged horse had kids that range from white to black, all the colors in between! Wild and willful when they're not tamed, these speedy devils have been the main form of transport for Greek heroes on quests. They're strong creatures with massive feathery wings, that can go for long distances at great speeds. Roman demigods only permit them to the highest ranking members of their camp.
Location: Pretty much where ever they want to go. Pegasai are smart and not afraid to let you know it.

Character: Euri Taverna
Canon: OC
Feature: Reapers!
Description: Reapers are creatures in Minoa that resemble traditional grim reapers: tattered cloaks, bony hands and black scythes. They don't appear to have any legs or feet (or faces for that matter). They were created via belief (most of the human population believing in them caused them to pop into existence) and muck around with the souls of those close to death or are already dead. While they can be summoned and controlled by necromancers they are capable of existing autonomously.
In the interests of not making them too godmod in Asgard they would be semi-intangible: they can't attack people and in return people can't attack them. They can be warded off by healing and fire, though, and they can still fuss with Asgard's souls (preventing them from going to the afterlife and making them into angry ghosts/poltergeists) and the gods' revival system (making it take longer than usual).
Location: They'd probably hang around predominantly in Hel, but also anywhere where death is prevalent.
Since this is an OC thing if more info is need just let me know.
just dropping this off for organisational purposes!
Character: River Song
Canon: Doctor Who
Feature: TARDIS
Description: On the outside: A blue old fashioned police telephone box. On the inside: A large, spacious time traveling space ship.
Location: Anywhere
Special notes: The TARDIS obviously doesn't have to be operational. For example; It could be locked to an exact time and space which would basically render it unable to be used for anything except housing.
Also TARDIS mun added this: I know I asked about it being a spacious non-functioning ship about the size of a house and I was told it wouldn't be fair. What about just the console room and it's practically dead because look, the Heart of it is over here in this human, so it won't move and basically only the emergency lights work?

Character: The Eighth Doctor
Canon: Doctor Who
Feature: Daleks
Description:
"Inside that shell, there's a creature born to hate, who's only thought is to destroy everything and everyone that isn't a Dalek, too."
The Doctors oldest and most hated enemies. Created by the Kaled scientist, Davros, they look like pepper-pot-shaped mini-tanks on the outside, but inside there sits a mutated lump of flesh, tentacles and hatred. They may be somewhat slow on the ground, and their "arms" consist of a gun and a plunger, but they are just about the most dangerous race in the Whoniverse.
The Doctor both is terrified of them, and loathes them with every fiber of his being. Want to see him lose his qualms about torture and murder? Put him in a fight with a Dalek.
Location: As soon as they appear, it's pretty much a given that they'll try to spread out to every area they can get to. So, really, it's up to you.
HOLES: SUGGESTION
Character: Erica Reyes
Canon: Teen Wolf
Feature: Lycanthropy (Beacon Hills Strain)
Description:
Lycanthropy is the development of werewolf/wolf-like physical features (and enhancement of current abilites/powers that being in Asgard has muted/dulled - for the sake of not breaking rules/game dynamics this would not develop in game) in those that have been bitten by an Alpha werewolf.
Physical features that are considered indicators of this mystical/magical change (Jeff Davis himself has said he prefers magic/mystical over biological reasons) are as follows:
( The three hours in the make-up chair version )
+ Clawlike nails - harder & sharper nails can grow from currently blunt human-like nails
+ Hair develops along jawlines, cheeks, and widows peaks extend
+ Canine Teeth become elongated and more canine in appearance
+ Werewolf eyes - irises shift in color
( Yellow/Gold = beta who has not taken an innocent life ) ( Blue = Beta that has taken an innocent life ) ( Red = Alpha )
(Some werewolves in TW canon can shift into full wolves - we know this would be considered a new ability so this would not work here.)
Location: Since this is a very specific thing and we can understand not wanting to have WEREWOLVES EVERYWHERE this could be treated more like a canon specific illness/magical attribute and would only develop in pre-existing werewolves that are in Asgard. (Those players that do not wish to have their werewolves gain this can be immune to this strain of lycanthropy - because in Teen Wolf Canon that is possible.)
It could also be introduced as something infecting a localized area of Asgard. There are current cast discussions about paid housing - so as a source of mystical infection it could start at their house with them and spread outward. Those not wishing to "infect" their character can be immune or too far away from the "hot zone" to be infected. The symptoms can fade or the body can build up an immunity to the infection to cure it so that it's not permanent unless your character has those conditions pre-existing. For those that would/could gain these conditions through canon updates or what have you - may have it latent/dorment in their system and it activates when their canon update is processed.
We can also work in a full-moon type feature if anyone that opts in wants to keep things, so that it's not avail all the time for those players but the full moon could impact them.
Basically, the TW Werewolf cast has talked about this and we'd be more than willing to discuss how this would/could work if it is feasible and is selected, because we'd like for it to be a good fit for the game, but not break things in the process. We also have a plan B, because a good werewolf always has a plan B.
