04 July 2014 @ 01:58 am
Hey, guys! Autumn here with a few quick announcements before we get to July's plot rundown. We're kicking off the fifth (and final game arc), and I hope you're looking forward to it as much as we are! First of all, I'd like to apologize for how late this is being posted. It's the middle of the night for a lot of us, but I thought it'd be best to get the ball rolling ASAP… so here we go!

HELPER MOD APPS;
UPDATE: Thank you to all who applied. Our application turnout for helpstaff was a lot bigger than any of us had anticipated, and so thank you a million million times to all who applied. With that being said-

Everyone, please do me a favor and send your condolences to Nix and TJ: they've been selected as Asgard's new helpteam. (Nix has previously gone through all of the tables and list formatting in the game and updated them, unprompted, just because the messy coding drove him nuts. Now he can just fix it himself!)

They'll mostly just be working in the background to update lists and point out my typos, but we're delighted to have them on as we chug along here.

HOLES;
We're going to be continuing with our Holes events in July. If you're interested in submitting an item/creature/effect from your character's canon for RNG consideration, please do so HERE, or by navigating to the comments below! Note: July's Holes are slated to be a 1-2 IC day event at most, so please keep that in mind when you submit. We can find a way to make most things work, but Holes will certainly feature as a smaller event this month, and I don't want to disappoint anyone by downsizing something huge from their canon.

Now let's get down to business!

GROUP ASSIGNMENTS/PLOTTING )

July 7-16: Christmas in July )

July 23-24: To Defeat the Huns )

Event Fast Facts )

Feel free to use the comments of this post for general monthly plotting!

As always, the calendar can be found HERE with OOC→IC dates, weather, and other information! Also, the test drive is up, with reserves this week and apps opening next week. If you have a friend who wants to join but is discouraged by our approaching end date, let them know that we have six months until plot end, and a few months following that until official game close. We'll be doing our best to make sure all players, new and old, will have lots of things to do as the game gears up for endgame.

Finally, a general reminder: here is our info page on the Frost Giants, for any new player who may not have encountered them before. And that's all I've got for you guys right now! If you've got any questions, please feel more than free to ask them below.

Hey guys, AJ here! In the interest of simplicity this month I'm going to break the announcements and monthly event rundowns into two separate posts. Here are the announcements – keep an eye out for the events tomorrow.

There are a couple of really important things here, so try to take a quick look!

HELPER MODS;
  • The Asgard modteam is looking to hire on one to two helper/list mods, just to assist with keeping our information up to date! If you're interested in volunteering a little of your time, head on over to HERE for all of that information.

LEVELING CHANGES;
  • The LEVELING UP system for powers is undergoing a big change! With the advent of endgame, we want to make sure everyone is able to up their powers. Starting in July 2014, characters will now be able to level up with one month of heightened activity (40 comments), with at least ten of those comments pertaining to that character's chosen group.

That means if your character is part of the Engineering group, ten of the comments linked must be pertaining somehow to their role as an engineer. Further details about the leveling up changes will go up on the Leveling page itself later tonight!

GROUP GOALS;
  • Pertaining to the groups: we will be posting an optional "goal" for each faction every month, just so characters and players will have a foundation for plotting ICly and OOCly every month. These will go up with the monthly rundown, and a place will be provided for people in those groups to interact. (E.G. Freyr may task the Welcoming Committee with deciding what goes into care packages for refugees from other cities and then building a bunch of them.) The tasks would change every month and will work to push towards endgame goals. Again, these would be completely optional, and just meant to help give people a jumping ground for things! We want to make this as easy and as much fun for people as we can, so if you have any questions or changes, please be sure to let us know.

JUNE HOLES EVENT;
  • The HOLES event for the month are FLESH-EATING SCARAB BEETLES, because everything is terrible and nothing is okay. Starting June 30th - the latter half of Day 471 – these jewel-like beetles will descend upon the city and take a hearty chomp out of anyone they might come across. A little less deadly than they are in the movie, they instead leave welting and painful red bites. Resistant to physical damage, they seem averse to flame, and can be easily driven away by fire. (They also seem to have a taste for the Singing Flowers from little Alice Liddell's canon, causing them to yelp and whine whenever their petals are chomped.)

Most of the swarm will have lifted and moved on from the city proper by the evening of Day 472 (July 2), though some will linger in the city – so maybe remember to check your boots before you go shoving your feet in there.

With that said, remember that Activity Check and the test drive are both up, and let us know if there's anything we can do for you!

02 June 2014 @ 10:43 pm
Welcome, friends, to the last month of Arc 4! This is Faith here with the first events leading into endgame, where Arc 5 will start in July and carry us through the last stretch of the war. We're really excited to have you with us in wrapping up this journey, so let's go ahead and get started!

First, there are some big changes happening in the general atmosphere and setting of the game, so please do bear with us in the transition and don't hesitate to ask questions or give feedback. Arc 5 is going to be dramatically different than all the rest, so we'll need your help to stay on track with it! We're going to do our best to keep all of our information up to date and readily available, but there's a lot to be done and it might take time. Please pardon the dust!

Second, we're introducing a new canon update option! Those of you that participated in the OC plot or spoke to the players that were will already know what this one is about. For sake of ease, a healthy amount of plagiarising myself:
In this new method, your character will not be physically leaving the city but will be leaving on a more spiritual level, if you will. Their bodies are in Asgard, yes, but their souls are tethered down by the gods; the beginning of the rope is still bound to their home. Now that the gods' magic is beginning to falter, it will be much easier for things to split, in a manner. Your character's consciousness will be leaving their body behind, ripped back to their home world to return with new memories.

As this is not supposed to happen, this process will have some adverse effects! Four things will happen:

  1. Your character's body will be frozen in place at the time of your canon update. This can be anywhere you'd like, whether they're standing or sleeping or in the middle of a roundhouse kick; regardless of where they are at the time, their body will fall slack and they will not move from that position. They will not be able to move, speak, or even blink in this state, and they cannot pull themselves out of it before the canon update is complete. Other characters will not be able to wake them from this trance-like state, but they can move their bodies to someplace safe if they'd like.
  2. Your character will be consciously aware of what is happening to them in both their canon and in Asgard. This means that they'll be able to see and hear and feel what is happening to them in Asgard, but they'll be mentally trapped inside of what is happening to them at home. Think of it like their life flashing before their eyes, if you will, and they aren't allowed to look away.
  3. Any physical changes that occur during the canon update will slowly manifest on your character's body, despite not actually being there to experience it. If they earn new scars from an old battle, those scars would appear fully worn on their skin. If they're in the middle of a battle and the wound is still open, that wound will simply open. If their hair grows, if they lose a limb, etc etc - anything physical will change in Asgard too. They can't bring new items or weapons with them, but their bodies will reflect the new experiences from home.
  4. Last but not least, when your character's consciousness returns to their body, it will be a rather painful sensation. It will feel as though they had been drowning and were only just pulled to the surface for their first breath of fresh air. All of their memories will be wholly intact from both canon and in-game, and they will have to reconcile the differences between the two.
And that's that! This one is a bit complicated, so please feel free to ask questions before utilising it if you'd feel the need.

And last but not least, we will be resuming the Holes events starting this month. Because we got too busy to run one in April, we will be using these entries to roll for June, though you can submit new entries in that thread if you want to try to get in this month! Remember that we will be introducing a new item or feature from canon worlds every month, so track the !holes tag for more information on these plots!

And with that, let's move onto June's events. We wanted these to be a little more lowkey after May, so they're relatively short, though the plot event holds a lot of information. Take a deep breath, buckle in with some iced tea, and let's do this thing. As always, your monthly schedule can be found here and your Fast Facts can be found here!

June 9-12: Good God, Y'all )

June 15-20: Ain't Nobody Got Time F'That )

Plot Fast Facts )

And that's it for June! This is a big big change to the state of the game, and we fully plan on it being a little ( or a lot ) confusing, so please don't hesitate to ask us questions at any point. We've got plenty of time to iron out all of the kinks before Arc 5 kicks off in July. Let us know if you have any questions / comments / concerns / dirty jokes!

31 March 2014 @ 07:48 pm
Hey hey, all! Faith here with your April events and a few big announcements about the state of Asgard and the game, so let's get right down to it!

First of all, the results of the magic expansion plot! For those of you that might not have seen it or been able to get involved, the simple summary is that Loki gave Draco Malfoy ( [personal profile] wasthemaster ) a quest to expand the gods' magic outside of the city so that the Travellers could use their House Powers when they leave Asgard. After some struggling and coordination, Draco and several helpful volunteers have succeeded in their mission! This means that House Powers now work outside the city walls. The runes that support this magic signal boost are hidden in various locations and will remain active until such a point they are disrupted or destroyed. Let's keep our fingers crossed that never happens ( and let us know if you want it to )!

Secondly, Asgard is cut off from Utgard as of the conclusion of the Burning Bridges plot. A vast majority of the land between the two kingdoms has been completely coated in a massive wave of ice that is both fatally dangerous and impenetrable. This means that travel between the two cities is impossible and as a direct result of that, Asgard will be entering a supply shortage. This is very important and will impact your characters in a variety of ways, including but not limited to:
  • food shortages: without access to the farmland that has been destroyed, there will be less fresh produce on the market. Welcome Houses will have slightly stricter food supplies and restaurants will have to cut back on their menus in some places. It's not quite to the point of rationing, though.
  • supply shortages: medical supplies, general household amenities, things of that sort that might be manufactured in Utgard's factories will not be as readily available. This includes things like clothing, soaps, appliances, etc etc. Also not quite to the point of rationing, but enough so that natives will strongly encourage the Travellers to be careful with the supplies they do have.
  • black markets and crime: enough of the city has been healed from the Sickness that there's been lower levels of crime running about for awhile now. With the supply shortages, those rates will increase somewhat as people start to panic over whether or not they'll be able to support themselves and others. The black market will start peddling stolen items and cheaply made replacements for Utgard's wares. Nothing incredibly dangerous or overt, but it will be slightly more prevalent than it was before.
  • etcetera: anything else you can think of that might come as an after effect of being cut off from their main supply source! If you aren't sure or think it should be noted up here, let us know in the comment section below.
These things will be in effect for the indefinite future, until someone comes up with an idea for how to clear away the ice. We'll keep you updated on any changes; in the meanwhile, start sharpening your mining techniques!

Thirdly, a slight change to curses in the city: retroactively as of A Mother's Lullaby, all curses will no longer be invoked by the gods. The gods do not have the magic to expend on silly pranks or character building exercises; as such, they will not be cursing any of the Travellers themselves for any reason. This doesn't mean that you can't curse your characters though! It simply means that they'll be coming from a different source: Yggdrasil herself. In the same manner that the Grey Sickness came as a burst of rotten magic from the Mother's core, all curses henceforth will be a glitch in the magic that composes your character. You are still free to make your curses whatever you'd like them to be and they are still only allowed to last two OOC weeks, they simply won't come from the gods anymore. If you need any clarification or have any questions, feel free to ask at any time.

Fourth, last month's Holes event introduced singing and speaking flowers! These sentient flowers can be found anywhere there is open soil for them to grow. Thanks to Jax for the suggestion! Remember that we will be introducing a new item or feature from canon worlds every month, so submit your canon features in the appropriate comment section below and track the !holes tag for more information on these plots!

Last but not least, we broke the universe, so we will be making updates to the FAQ and info pages to reflect these changes. Slowly. Very slowly. We broke so many things, it'll take some time to get our facts straight. Please do bear with us as we comb our way through the rubble and try to make things presentable again. If you know of anything in specific that needs updated, please let us know!

And that's it for now! April is really plot heavy, so I'm not going to waste any time getting into it. As always, your calendar is here and you can skip past my rambling to the Fast Facts here!

Apr. 10-17: LOCUSTS! )

Apr. 14-19: The Soothesayers' Silence )

Apr. 22/23: Almost Useful )

Fast Facts Summary )

And that's it for the month of April! We hope you guys enjoy this month of chaotic nonsense. Remember to fill out your AC and never trust anything Vince Vaughn tells you. These are dangerous times, my friends. Let us know if you have any questions / comments / concerns / dirty jokes!

Holes Event: Thistle Do Nicely

On Day 416, flowers of all types imaginable will begin to sprout from the ground. There will be a giant and colorful bloom of them in Gefion Park during the second day of the funeral, and many of them will sing along with the Native's hymns of remembrance.

These flowers will not just sprout at Gefion Park, however! When they first appear, they will actually spring up just about everywhere, dirt or not. They may appear on a table, off a wall, or rooted in someone's freshly prepared sandwich. The flowers not in dirt will wilt after about a day.

These flowers are unlike most others in that they have quite the mouths on them! While some are nice and polite, others sweet and helpful, some are sassy, rude, and will insult anyone who comes near them. They tend to call most humans weeds (unless they find that human particularly pretty), and have very animated and exaggerated tendencies: they will nap and snore loudly as they do, and panic horribly when they believe they may be picked. Though they may lack manners themselves, they are very big on other people having them.

Plucking the flowers will cause them to wilt and die, though they will continue to talk until they do. Following their first appearance, these flowers will continue to grow in the city anywhere flowers can grow. Many thanks to Jax, who suggested this feature from Alice and Disney's Alice in Wonderland canon!

Remember that a new feature will be introduced to the game every month! For more information, check out the Holes page and keep an eye peeled for when submisions open during every monthly rundown post!

Howdy, howdy! Faith here with your excessive reading assignment for the month, as well as a couple reminders for you!

First up, we will be continuing the Holes events this month! For those of you that are newer to the game or might've forgotten, Holes events are an opportunity to bring in a canon feature from your character's world to settle permanently into the game setting. You can find more information on the Holes events here, and we will be accepting submissions for March in the comments below. We'll be rolling on March 5 this month, so get those submissions in early and be sure to track the !holes tag for all information relevant to these plots!

Remember to respond to Activity Check by tomorrow at 11:59PM CST and that applications open tonight at 12:01AM CST. This month's events pack a lot of punch, so let's get right into it! Your calendar is here and you can skip ahead to the plot Fast Facts here!

Mar. 9-12: Putting the  )
Mar. 21-30: Burning Bridges )
Fast Facts Summary )
And that's March for you! Stay tuned for more on the plot event, remember to vote in the poll, and prepare your Sunday best for the funeral. As always, feel free to use this as a plotting post for your characters. Let us know if you have any questions / comments / concerns / dirty jokes!

29 January 2014 @ 03:53 pm
Howdy, howdy! This month has a lot going on so I won't waste too much time blathering at you here. We have a few reminders before your February events!

First, just another bump to jump into our Buddy System to help new players integrate into the game! A few of you have had your buddies for some time now; let us know how it worked out for you! There'll be a comment section below for feedback, but if you'd prefer to do it in private ( as we sometimes do ), please don't hesitate to contact any one of us on any of the methods on the Mod Contact Page. We want to make Asgard as accessible as possible to all of our players, so thank all of you for helping us better the game!

Second, last month's Holes event introduced the adorable, delectable nug! These bunny-pigs can be found hopping around any open space, burrowing in ill-suited ground, or roasting on some street-side food carts. Thanks to Pel for the suggestion! Due to the shorter month and the number of events we have running, there will not be a Holes event for February. We will accept submissions again in the month of March, so keep an eye on this space and track the !holes tag for all information relevant to these plots!

As always, your calendar is here and you can skip to the plot Fast Facts here!

Feb. 9-16: Down This Road )

Feb. 11-14: Friendly Fire )

Feb. 21/22: A Mother's Lullaby )

FAST FACTS )
And that's all for the month! I hope you guys are excited, because we sure are. Make sure to get your AC in by Feb 2 over here, and let us know if you have any questions / comments / concerns / dirty jokes in the comments section below! Thanks, guys!

25 January 2014 @ 06:24 pm
Holes Event: A Feast For Bros

For the month of January, after weeks of below freezing temperatures, strange creatures will start poking their noses up out of the ground in random places on Day 394 ( Jan. 26/27 ). These bunny-pigs are called nugs, and herald from the Dragon Age canon. Asgard's streets aren't made for burrowing creatures like these ones, which means you ought to expect random holes or uneven ground in varying places throughout the city. The nugs themselves, however, can be found hopping around just about anywhere.

You'll find them most frequently, however, on street corners - being fried and sold at a fair price of just a few runes. The natives are taking full advantage of the overabundance of these new arrivals to make a pretty penny before the winter chill chases them back underground. There will be shops and carts aplenty wheeling roasted nug around for anyone that's interested. Act now, before your chance to taste bunny-pig is up!

Alternatively, act now, to save these stupid animals from being eaten. Either way, look at them squeal!

The nugs will continue to be sold by natives throughout the rest of winter and by the new year in March, their numbers will dwindle down to a manageable few that burrow underground and can pop up at any given moment wherever there might be unpaved ground. Many thanks to Pel ( [personal profile] tumbler ) and the Dragon Age cast for this month's submission!

Remember that a new feature will be introduced to the game every month! For more information, check out the Holes page and keep an eye peeled for when submisions open during every monthly rundown post!

Hey, guys! The results of the poll are in, which means we have the rest of your January events for you! Before I get into them, however, we have a couple of reminders that we noticed might help understand our policies a bit.

The first is about Activity Check check-ins. This one's always a kicker so we try to make reminders for it every couple of months or so.
  • Every character in Asgard is required to respond to AC, regardless of whether you were accepted during the AC month or if you were on hiatus. You are always required to check in to AC.
  • If you were accepted during the AC month or if your hiatus covered more than two weeks of the month, then you are exempt from the 30 comment requirement, but you still have to respond to AC to let us know that you're around.
  • If you are on hiatus during the AC period, you have 72 hours following the end of your hiatus to respond to AC.
  • Only hiatuses posted on the official hiatus page will count for an exemption / the 72 hour extension.
  • Failure to respond to AC with these things will result in a strike. Strikes are cleared after passing two consecutive AC periods with the 30 comment requirement. Hiatus passes will not clear a strike.
  • If you have any extenuating circumstances that prevent you from either making activity or responding to AC, contact the mods immediately. Letting us know beforehand is always better than trying to work things out after AC has already been processed. We will try to work with you as best as we can, so don't be afraid to talk to us!
And that's pretty much it! If you are ever confused or need clarification on our AC policies, don't hesitate to ask. We hate having to sweep people for missing AC because we want to keep you in our pockets forever and ever, so please let us know how we can help you accomplish your AC.

Second, remember to get your Holes submissions in! The Holes bring in things like monsters or illnesses from your canon worlds, so it's a fun way to bring a bit of your own flavour into the game. For more information, you can read up on the Holes here. Submissions for this month should be posted here and we will draw for this month's Holes event on January 11. Good luck!

Now, enough of Faith's usual rambling. On to your January events. As always, your calendar is always here and the link to the plot Fast Facts is here!

Jan. 8-19: A Friend In Need )

Jan. 14-15: The Power Shuffle )

Jan. 28-31: Wife Swap: Asgard Edition )

Fast Facts Summary )

That's all, folks! Let us know if you have any questions / comments / concerns / dirty jokes! And as always, feel free to use this as a plotting post for your characters.

Hey, guys! I hope you had an awesome holiday season, but it's back to the grinder with you! We're trying out some new formatting for this post, as we're trying to find something that works a little better for everyone following some response we garnered on the mod HMD ( which is open pretty much forever, so feel free to drop us a line there if you'd like to crit something in the game! ), so please bear with any bumps or kinks and let us know what you think below. Before all that, though, some announcements and reminders to get this year rolling!

First of all, a reminder about our new policy regarding cast caps. We are now limiting casts to a maximum of 25 characters across all adjacent canons. This includes sequels or branch-off canons that are set within the same universe. If you feel an argument can be made for your series acting as a stand-alone canon, please contact us to discuss it! All casts maxed out or nearing the maximum will be listed on the reserves and applications pages.

Secondly, just a bit of house-cleaning type stuff. We're going to be doing a lot of renovations on our info pages because there are about eighty million of them and some of the information is now outdated. We want to clean things up to make navigating the game information a little bit easier, so if you have any questions / suggestions for the FAQ, let us know below. I may have as much fun making info pages as AJ does making lists, but they're meaningless if they don't help you out so let us know how we can make them best serve your needs!

Third, we are resuming the Holes events this month! For those of you new to the game or anyone that may have forgotten, the Holes events bring one canon feature from your character's home world permanently into the setting of the game. Track the !holes tag for more information on these events, and remember that we will do a RNG drawing every month to bring in something new, so submit your canon features today!

Lastly, but definitely not least of all, the results of the plot poll from earlier in the month! You all overwhelmingly voted for militarisation of the city by an 86 point margin, which means we will gradually be directing the plot towards Asgard's offense throughout Arc 4 and into Arc 5 and endgame. We've got a lot of cool things in store for you guys, so I hope you enjoy this final war of the worlds!

That said, let's get Arc 4 started with January's events! Your calendar is, as always, right over here, and as part of the new format we're attempting, we're putting a bulleted tl;dr summary of the events at the end of each mod post. To skip ahead to the fast facts, go ahead and click here.

Jan. 8-19: A Friend In Need )

Jan. Special Event: TBA )

Fast Facts Summary )
That's it for now. The big one this month is just that poll, so make sure you read over it and vote here! Welcome to 2014, guys, we are so glad to have you with us for this new and final year. :)

14 November 2013 @ 09:41 pm
Hey guys! Just a quick mod post with some announcements and a reminder!

First, this month's Holes feature is Storm Spirits from the Percy Jackson franchise! These mean little buggers take the form of either human boys with smoke-like wings and lightning in their eyes or dark horses with manes of electricity. They will appear whenever a storm strikes and start wreaking some havoc. Fortunately, our storm for the month has already past but expect to see these guys on the horizon soon. Thank you to Folded ([personal profile] unbrokenwheel) for the submission, and remember to submit your canon features for next month's Holes drawing!

Second, we are unveiling Asgard's brand new buddy-system! This will allow people to sign up to be paired with another player to help each other navigate your way through the game. Asgard is a massive beast and even we get turned around sometimes, so we're giving you the opportunity to make some friends and find answers to all those questions you've been wanting to ask. For more information, check out the page here!

Lastly, a quick reminder to vote in the player poll to determine the conclusion of November's plot arc! The poll closes on November 19, so be sure to chime in while you have the chance!

That's it for now. Have a great evening, guys, and I hope you're preparing for A House Divided!

Holy crap, guys, I can't believe it's November already! This is Faith here with a lot to give you, before we get into your events for the month, we have some big things to announce including a policy change, so please bear with me through it all.

First, I want to give a huge round of applause to our NPC team. Last month's festival was extra amounts of crazy in an effort to give something light-hearted after Bad Moon Rising's drama, and our NPC team took up the ridiculous task we set them in having all of them out and about, going above and beyond what we the mod team could've hoped for in our helpers. They clocked in over two-thousand of the six-thousand comments in the first event log, and that's not including any tag-outs they might've done elsewhere. You guys are amazing and we really can't thank you enough for what you do for us.

And of course, we are so thrilled with the turnout from the players in that event, so thank you guys for being awesome and having so much fun with our silly nonsense. We hope you enjoyed it while it lasted; we will not do anything that impossibly large-scale again. Haha

Second up are some brand new info pages! We noticed some confusion over varying things within the game and kind of wanted to clear that up along with giving out new world-building information, so I've spent the past week or so whipping together four new pages for you guys:
  • On the OOC spectrum, we have Meet the Mods, an info page to introduce new players and old players that might not be terribly familiar with us to your mod team! This is just to give you guys a better idea of who we are and what we do inside the game to help ease that space between mod and player, because we are just players at the end of the day and we want to have a good time with you all.
  • On the IC spectrum, we have the other three pages. These all focus on the Giants and what exactly they are so that when we throw them at you, you can have a better idea of what you're dealing with. Information on these pages is available ICly in the library, but there are certain pages and sections that are not available ICly so please be very careful when you utilise this in game. If you're ever unsure, ask! We're more than happy to help you out.
    1. Meet the Frost Giants; the guide to Thiazi and her minions.
    2. Meet the Fire Giants; the guide to Surt and his minions.
    3. Meet the Earth Giants; brand new information on a brand new aspect to Yggdrasil's backstory. Most of this page is not available ICly. We just wanted to give it to you guys to give you a better understanding of this crazy world you've been playing in.
    • You'll notice the sections on the King and Queens of the Giants are left empty! This information will be filled in at a later date.
    • Remember that the examples of the Giants listed on these pages aren't the only ones that exist, they're just ideas to help you guys along in figuring out what kind of Giants are possible!
We hope these pages help you out a little bit guys. As always, we're available by any of the methods on the Mod Contact Page if you ever have any questions about anything at all.

Third, last month's Holes event introduced the Plague of Plenty! These bards, orphans, and beggars from the Assassin Creed universe have since taken up residence as Asgardian natives, which has brought with them a small upsurge in the Grey Sickness as reflected on the scales over here. Thanks to Jaina for the suggestion! Remember that we will be introducing a new item or feature from canon worlds every month, so submit your canon features in the appropriate comment section below and track the !holes tag for more information on these plots!

POLICIES RE: POTENTIALLY TRIGGERING MATERIAL )

Now on to the fun stuff. Remember that Activity Check is open until November 2 and just for kicks, we have an IC secrets meme over here if you want to submit silly stuff from your characters. As always, your schedule for the month can be found here!

Because the last two months have been jam-packed crazy, this month is going to give a wide berth to kind of settle down and breathe before we jump into our plot event. It's kind of a big one, which I do apologise for sob but it's the build-up to our Arc 3 climax! Very exciting business, so let's get right down to it.

Holes Event: The Plague of Plenty

October is bringing in a strange feature from a canon world this month. On Day 341 ( Oct. 14/15 ), hundreds of new citizens will be appearing all across the city. There will be beggars and orphans, your average peasants and guards, as well as obnxiously cheerful minstrels that might sing a song or two about your characters as they go about their business. These teeming masses will be appearing virtually anywhere in the city, whether it's in the streets, on your lawn, or in your bathroom singing a merry tune to wake you in the morning.

For those of you who are not canon familiar you can get a glimpse of them in the beginning of this video to see what you are dealing with!

They will continue to appear and be generally annoying for three days, at which point about 60% of them will go grey and fade back into their universe while the other 40% take up residence in the city. This will bring a small resurgence in the Grey Sickness' prevalence within Asgard, but now there will be plenty more people to help pick up the pace in bringing emotion and colour.

Remember that a new feature will be introduced to the game every month! For more information, check out the Holes page and keep an eye peeled for when submisions open during every monthly rundown post!

You guys killed all of our natives last month. Now you get to deal with busking minstrels. Thank Jaina ( [personal profile] pushesgently ) and the Assassin's Creed cast. Happy October, Asgard. ♥

Hey all! It's Faith here, and it's been two months since my last rundown post, so please forgive any mistakes and inevitable tl;dr. Let's do this!

First, a warm and hearty welcome to Ana, Maddie, Toss, and TJ who joined the NPC helper team with Heimdall, Skuld, Ran, and Surt respectively! Look out for the first three in this month's special event as all of Asgard's friends come to hang out! Surt isn't invited because he's a jerk. Thanks for joining us, guys!

Second, last month's Holes event introduced Swear Toads that can now be found hopping around the lake in Gefion Park, swearing rudely in various languages. Thanks to Ryuuto for the submission! Remember that we will be introducing a new item or feature from canon worlds every month, so submit your canon features in the appropriate comment section below and track the !holes tag for more information on these plots!

And that's it for this month! After the beast that was September's plot, we're making October a little less plot heavy and lot more silly with a player plot and optional plot for later in the month. As always, your schedule can be found here!

Oct. 8-17: Look, A Distraction! )

Oct. 24-29: The Gentlemen )

Oct. 22-31: Opt-Out Plot )

And that's it for the month! I say as though this isn't a monstrously long post. Remember to fill out September AC and meet some new people on the Test Drive Meme. Leave any questions/comments/concerns in the comments section below and have a great October, guys!

Hey, Asgard! I'll try to keep it brief this time, I promise.

Firstly: The Bad Moon Rising and Trip to Vanaheim plots are still going strong! It's definitely not too late to get involved, so if you're just tuning in: please feel free to ask questions and just hop in! The Event Feed is always there for inspiration, if you're looking for something to have your character react to. Otherwise, please let us know if there's anything we can do for you in either of these plots.

Secondly: NPC apps are open! We have four NPCs currently up for grabs: Heimdall, Surt, Skuld, and Ran. Note: these are not "typical" applications. We aren't looking for a writeup of the NPC itself - simply enthusiasm and an interest in getting more involved in the game. NPCs are not held to a certain activity standard, and are instead on a "played as needed" basis. It's a lot of fun, so if you are interested, please fill out an app or ask questions here!

Thirdly: For September's Holes feature, Swear Toads from the Artemis Fowl universe will be appearing in the city! On the morning of Day 328 (Weds, Sept 18), foul-mouthed toads will fall from the sky, hurling curses in a number of languages at anyone they see. Only ones that are rushed to the lake at Gefion Park will survive, and that's where they'll continue to live in the city. Remember that a new feature is brought from a character's world each month, and further details about Holes (and the swearing toads!) can be found here and by tracking the !holes tag.

Lastly: The gamewide mandatory HMD is up here. It is comm-locked, and participation is required in order to pass this month's activity check. It will be open until 11:59PM CST on Sept 25th, 2013.

Otherwise, we just want to let you guys know how much we appreciate the level of involvement we see in this game (really, look at how huge the September and August intro mingles were!) You are all fantastic, and we all look forward to a lot more fun with every one of you.

That said.. that's all for now! We'll be keeping an eye on the comments here for any questions, issues, comments, or problems.

Hello, Asgard! September is going to be a doozy of a month event-wise, so please take a moment to turn your eyes here. There is going to be a plot that runs for the entire month, involving Thiazi choosing targets out of characters in game and polluting Asgard's network with corrupted magic. This plot has the potential to be very dark, so there will also be a simultaneous opt-out event, where characters can travel to Vanaheim with Freyr and Freya. September will also feature a more lighthearted event at the beginning of the month.

Alright, let's get this party started!

First, a few very quick announcements:

1) The Activity Check is up for the month, and you have until September 2nd at 11:59PM to post! The Monthly Test Drive has thirty characters in it this month! Please poke your head in and take a look -- many people use these threads to determine how well they might fit into a game's setting, or as one of their sample links. Tryt o do your part to make them feel welcome!

2) The results are in from the house contest! Large baskets of lavish chocolate treats and pranks (whoopie cushions, fake mustaches, disappearing ink) will appear in the rooms of the following winners: Sandy's ([profile] morethandream) will come with a ribbon reading "Highest Victim Toll"; Tony Stark's ([personal profile] modernmarvel) will read "Most Embarrassing"; and Steve Rogers's ([personal profile] exloserspromise) will read "Most Creative". Jamie McCrimmon ([personal profile] bonnypiperlad) will receive a smaller basket filled with a mixture of real and rubber fruit, and his ribbon will read "Good try!"

3) The Holes event featuring the ghosts and reapers was a lot of fun! The ghosts were laid to rest once the Reaper's influence faded, and there are only the few left unaffected still wandering around the carnival. The Reapers themselves were sealed into black star sapphires and affixed to the top of the funhouse mirrors in the carnival; enjoy a new haunting attraction and be careful not to break the mirrors!

Remember: A new item or feature from a world can be introduced every month, so we will open up submissions for what will arrive in September! Please submit any ideas you might have in the appropriate comment section below, and remember to track the !holes tag for any information relevant to these events!

And now, September's events! Your calendar is, as always, over here! Be mindful of the dates, however, as we didn't mark the entirety of the month-long events. A quick TL;DR for the plot event is included at the end of this post for reference, followed by an opt-out event for those that do not wish to participate in the darker plot.

Sept 6-9: Fruits of our Labor )

Sept 1-30: Bad Moon Rising )

Plot TL;DR )

OPTIONAL PLOT: We're Taking The Hobbits to Vanaheim )

Questions? Complaints? Suggestions? Please feel free to use the comments here to ask any questions you might have and to start plotting out what your characters will be doing for the month!

AN INTRODUCTION TO HOLES: Reapers

All of the worlds are connected and have remained, until now, separate. Thanks to the earthquake on Day 290 (July 5th), however, great holes have been torn in the veil between this world and the others. Reapers have fallen into Asgard through one of these holes, and it’s up to the Travelers to decide how to deal with them

A timeline of the event - August 15-18 )

What does this mean for you?
  • The spirits are not going to rest until the reapers are somehow stopped or contained. HOW THIS HAPPENS is going to be completely up to you guys! There is going to be a top-level comment below explicitly for planning out how, exactly, these things are going to be stopped.
  • Any ward against ghosts that works in your canon will work against these. Your myths come from somewhere; so do your talismans and spells!
  • Feel free to get creative with the vengeful spirits. We are leaving this a little open-ended on purpose, so using your imagination is definitely encouraged.
  • We will have a Q&A going in the comment section, and we also encourage you guys to use this post for plotting!

This is the first Holes event, featuring objects brought as permanent game fixtures in from characters’ worlds. Up to one unique thing will be brought in each month. For August, Reapers from Euri Taverna’s ([personal profile] occulthymns) world were chosen. Specific details about the monthly Holes drawing can be found here!

Hello, hello! Faith here with your monthly rundown, but first, a few announcements!

First up, we have some policy changes in the works regarding applications and canon appearances to create a more clear-cut guideline for how much headcanon is acceptable in a canon character application. As this is a bit of a grey area and difficult to find a middle-ground that is fair all across the board, we will continue to discuss our options and have the new rules posted by the start of August's app round. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we figure this one out!

Second, as we welcome in Arc 3, we also want to introduce you guys to a new plot bunny, affectionately entitled Holes! It is exactly what is sounds like: Odin explained to everyone that the earthquake earlier this month tore holes in the veil between worlds, and though the gods managed to sew those holes up well enough, their magic is not powerful enough to seal them forever and things are starting to slip right through the cracks - things from your worlds. All of the details can be found on this page, so please take a look through it, as we are accepting suggestions for this month!

The calendar has Days 311 and 312 (August 15-18) marked down with an optional event. Whichever suggestion we accept this month will be given a tiny optional side-plot to introduce the concept of these new arrivals to both the Travellers and you as players so you'll understand how exactly this process works. It will be something very small and offhand that players can feel free to tinker with or not, but the option will remain there. So go ahead and start discussing your suggestions with your castmates; submissions will be open until August 3! If you want to be alerted for any future Holes progression, ie. new features and optional plots, track the tag !holes in this comm.

Third, just a little bit of housekeeping: we cleaned up the Navigation Page a little bit by adding a secondary directory, the Additional Important Pages ... page. Redundancy is fun, so long as it doesn't clutter up the main page! We'll try to keep only the most important things on the main page and add everything else to this new one so that you don't have to wade through a million things every time you're looking for Housing.

Lastly but certainly not least of all, a big huge massive thanks to Draggy for taking up the reigns for Surt and Heimdall. You rock, momma-mod!

That's all for now! Remember to post to the game-wide HMD as it closes at midnight tonight and is mandatory in order to pass AC, which is also up over here. The mod HMD thread is here and we appreciate any and all feedback you guys might have for us, especially in regards to the end of Arc 2!

Now onto the fun stuff. As always, the schedule can be found right yonder.

July 31-August 8: Turning of the Tides )
August 21-24: Mischief Not-Yet Managed )

And that's it for August. Please feel free to use this post for any and all plotting, as our plot event this month will require a lot of logging to interact with each other. Let us know if you have any questions in the comments section below!
