16 March 2016 @ 07:20 pm
Howdy, howdy, folks! Faith here with our next round of events for the reunion, but first, a couple more announcements:
  1. Last week, we announced on plurk that events would be posted every two weeks instead of every week, to give you more time to finish your threads before we drop more stuff on you. This one came just a couple days late because I was dealing with some RL stuff, I do apologize for that.

We want to take this moment to ask you if the every two weeks schedule works for you, or if you'd prefer we do once a week or once a week and a half. We don't want to rush you, but we also don't want to leave you bored! Whichever timeframe works best for everyone is what we'll go with. Please let us know in the comments below what you'd prefer.
    • On that note, if you haven't already, following the mod plurk at [plurk.com profile] assguardians is the best way to keep up with announcements, event posts, and any other mod chatter!
  2. New quests have been added to the Quest Board! Old quests can still be completed at your leisure; these are hands-off flavor events just to give you some other fun stuff to play with.

That all said and done, on with the events for Week Two!

WEEK TWO EVENT DESCRIPTIONS )
And that's it for Week Two events! The event log for the BFGs is up here, and the log for Whip Out the Rulers is here! Feel free to use this post for plotting and let us know if you have any questions / comments / concerns / dirty jokes in the comments below!

Hello, hello! Faith here with your event description for Week One of our big reunion! We're going to keep it fairly simple for you so that it's not too top-heavy, since we'd really like this month to be lighthearted fun times.

First, though, a few things of note:
  1. Please remember to request membership to the event comms [community profile] asgardreprise and [community profile] asgardcoda if you plan on making your own posts at any point. We apologize again for not asking y'all to do this when we first started accepting character claims. Mea culpa.
  2. We're gonna scrap the 2 OOC days = 1 IC day ratio mostly because it doesn't really matter at this point in the story. Haha For simplicity's sake, we're going to very vaguely handwave non-specific dates to make it easier for headcanoning any post-war gameplay.
  3. You can tag posts with your character's name if you'd like to keep track of posts you tag! This is not required and is only for your own use. We will also create tags every week, such as !week one, !week two, etcetera that you can use on your posts if you'd like. All mod posts will be tagged with !mingle, please do not use this tag otherwise.
  4. The network comm has two mingle posts up for use: IC Inboxes and Network Posts. These are optional for use if you don't want to make your own individual posts.
  5. And last but not least, there is a Quest Board for optional side plots you can play at any time. Check them out if you would like something other than the main events to play with in your sandboxing!

Awright, with that out of the way, on to the event!

WEEK ONE EVENT DESCRIPTION )

And that's all for Week One! The event log is already up here and from this point forward, you can begin threading to your hearts' content. Feel free to use this post for plotting and let us know if you have any question / comments / concerns / dirty jokes in the comments below! Happy anniversary, y'all!

Howdy howdy, friends! Faith here, way too excited to be able to use that greeting again for the first time in a good long while. In a fit of madness, Autumn and I got together to discuss a few things and we have an exciting announcement for you all!

For the month of March, we are super happy and excited to be welcoming everyone back for Asgard's One Year Reunion!! We'll be tossing up a few events and some small flavor things and you will have free reign to run amok and explore the familiar corners of the world - and maybe a few new ones too!

Before we get into the events themselves, we have a few little guidelines for how this will work!

Reunion Guidelines )
And that's all for now! We will post event logs and descriptions at the start of the week, please do not begin gameplay until we have posted the first mingle log. Until then, feel free to use this post for any plotting purposes! If you have any questions / concerns / feedback / dirty jokes, please leave them in the comments section below. It's real good to see you all again!

Hey, guys! Faith here again to give you the rundown on the mini-events that will happen post-endgame. I'm just pulling these out of note I left with the mod email, so they'll be very short and general just so you know the state of things throughout final closure. If you have any ideas or suggestions, go ahead and post them in the comments below and put them into play. Feel free to post logs or handwave events as you please! There is a general catch-all log for these here.

DAY 578 ( MAR. 1/2 )
Asgard is officially announced free of the Grey Sickness. The gods and their native citizens begin tearing down old fortifications from the war so that they can break down the great wall and reunite the Holy City with the world at large. With the Gates gone, trade and travellers can move through the city freely, bringing with it new life and more wares.

DAY 580 ( MAR. 5/6 )
After things finally settle, all of the gods in Yggdrasil converge in Asgard to hold council about plans for the future. The most pressing matter on the agenda is the Travellers; it's been known since the beginning that there were those that wished to stay. The gods discuss the impossibility of it, however much the Travellers might deserve the choice, and discussions for the most part do not go well.

That is, until Honir snaps awake when Njord slams his hand on the table. He immediately mumbles that all they need to do is tie this thing over there and split that right there and then the portal will be held open for eternity. Odin contemplates and confirms Honir's unintelligible ramblings, much to the confusion of the rest of the gods and Mimir's immense pride.

From this point onward, characters will be able to come and go as they please. They can only travel to their own home world and they will not be able to retain memories of Asgard in their home world, but they can always return but simply imagining it so. Old and new characters can also feel free to stumble their way back to the Holy City at will.

DAY 583 ( MAR. 11/12 )
Frigg, being the closest physical being to the Mother, will grant her powers of nurturing to any Travellers that would like to encourage the World Tree to grow. These will exist alongside current House Powers, and will allow Travellers to bring forth new life ( mountain ranges, forests, rivers, any natural body the mind can imagine ) through any variation of song, dance, confessions of truth or love, and making merry.

On the same day, there will be a general plant-a-tree festival around the entirety of Asgard's kingdom. Any participants will be given gourds of blessed water to pour onto the newly buried seeds that will encourage them to grow at ten times the normal rate. Later, there's the standard big ol' party with music and food and more of Frigg's magic merry making. Think Asgard Burning Man 418.

DAY 585 ( MAR. 15/16 )
Any Travellers that claim permanent or near-to-permanent residency within Yggdrasil will be given the opportunity to become ambassadors to the world. Small councils will be formed and sent into the various kingdoms to begin rebuilding with the idea of "unity" in mind, that the whole of Yggdrasil should live connected to one another instead of separated onto different corners of the map. This includes the now-abandoned Giant kingdoms, whose harsh terrains have softened into more habitable locations. And is it just a trick of the mind, or do they seem closer in distance? Every race of every kingdom comes together for these efforts, settling into these united lands and creating new cultures of mixing pots all across the map.

DAY 590 ( MAR. 25/26 )
New Giants are born into the world, representing Yggdrasil's now flourishing life. They are brought to Asgard from Ginnungagap and adopted by various peoples across the land, to be raised in unison with the newly formed cultures of diversity. The Loki twins are declared the new Kings of Giants, and though they rule together and justly between Asgard and Utgard, they encourage a little too much playfulness and are brought under advisement by Mimir. Travellers are welcome to present teachings, assist in rehabilitation, and adoption of these new neutral Giants.

DAY 600 AND ONWARD
Things continue in the general direction of rebuilding civilization under a new light of unity and peace. It's not an easy task, and there are surely struggles on the path forward, but the Travellers' presence and good will is never forgotten and so the land grows to cherish the possibility of healing.

Let me know if you have any questions and once again, thanks for everything, guys!

Hey, all! This is Faith - I offered to help AJ with finishing up the last event a couple weeks ago when I started handing out metaplot research, and since I haven't heard back on my plot suggestion but your frustrations have been heard, I talked to AJ and I'm just going to go ahead and give you guys the last of my plot notes that I left her with. I want to apologise for how we left you guys hanging, and I hope that at the very least, I can give you something to work with to wrap up your character's involvement in Asgard Eventide.

Be warned: this post will be long ( longer than my usual long post ) because it's wrapping up everything you guys have worked on over the last several years, and I'm trying not to miss anything. Please feel free to skip down to the actual event if you don't want to read all the other metaplot wrap-up.

Without further ado:

ENDGAME PLOT EVENT: FROM THE ASHES

ENDGAME METAPLOT INFO )

ENDGAME PLOT EVENT )

This is the conclusion of the endgame event. I have a few mini-event type things that I can write up for you guys if you want them to carry you through March and give you an opportunity to conclude any remaining CR, just lmk and I'll get them posted when I have time. Please leave any and all questions here and I'll try to get back to you as soon as possible. I'll post an event log for this tomorrow afternoon. Thank you guys so much for going on this journey with us!

Here's the player poll for HOT UNDER THE COLLAR. Surt isn't actively threatening the city with his posse of Fire Giants, but they're still militarized and a force to reckon with. They also no longer have Thiazi and her cronies to distract them.

Thus the dilemma: What will you do?

Poll #16418 DROP IT LIKE IT'S HOT.
This poll is closed.

Howdy guys! I'm still alive, believe it or not, and I'm here with the events for the rest of January and through February.

As a heads up, the full month of February is going to be a little different than the standard event format: as the world tree grows sicker and the magic in the city begins to unravel, characters in-game are going to be given ample opportunity to explore, discover, and contribute to a solution. There is a "fall-back" ending in place, but I want to emphasize that it is far from set in stone! More IC and OOC details on how to go about this will go up on February 1st accompanying the message that the gods send to the characters' bracelets.

As another heads-up, this month's AC check-in will be the very last.

Because of the nature of the events, I've changed the way the calendar is handled slightly: instead of using the standard HTML calendar, I've transferred it to a Google one, just because events are running throughout the month and this makes it a little easier to parse! As always, they're located here!

January 27-Feb 2: E.T. Phone Home Pt. 1 )

February 3-10: E.T. Phone Home Pt. 2 )

January 28-31: HOT UNDER THE COLLAR )

Feb 11-16, 21-24, 27-28: A VISIT TO THE NEIGHBORS, CAN WE FIX IT: REPRISE, & THE WAY BACK )

Plot Fast Facts )

As a note: February 28th will mark the end of the game's over-arcing metaplot! Smaller and celebratory events (and perhaps mini world quests or curses) will go throughout the months of March and April to allow players to reach a resolution for any storylines or CR that still needs wrapping up. The mechanics of this are tba, but characters themselves will be given an option to leave immediately or to stick around for a while to help facilitate this option.

If there's anything that I can do, please let me know! And as always, thanks for your eternal patience with my tardiness - because I do declare, trying to wrap this game up is going to give me the vapors. You guys kick ass, and I look forward to kicking much of it this last plotty month with you!

27 December 2014 @ 04:11 pm
PLOT EVENT: INTO THE FIRE (DEC 27-31/DAYS 561-563) The plot event Into the Fire is slotted for December 27-31. It is an optional event that involves light canon-sharing aspects and will bring both an important message from the Mother and critical information regarding Surt's location.

Dec 26-31: Into the Fire )

13 December 2014 @ 04:14 pm
Hidey-ho, Asgardians!

As I'm sure you could tell, December has been (and will be!) a quiet month on purpose for the game to allow for holidays and a pause between big plot events. There's not much to say other than a few quick announcements, and please let me know if there's any questions you have or anything you would like clarification on!

Firstly: Starting this month, activity requirements will be changed to a simple check-in. Traditionally, Asgard gives a pass for all players in December to account for the busy-ness of the holiday season, and it seems silly to ask for activity the last two months of the game itself. Because of this, I ask that if you are in the game, to please make a good faith effort to be involved in some capacity!

Secondly: On Dec 31, all apps and re-apps will close. All characters, including those swept this round, will have the option to either re-app or repick from now until 11:59PM CST on the 31st.

Thirdly: Starting this month, the dates for all future events have been tentatively scheduled and will be listed on the schedule page. The actual rundown for each event will go up seven days before the event itself to allow for plotting. Please keep in mind that though I will be sticking to these dates/times as closely as possible, these events are subject to changes depending on character action and player feedback! As I finished this post and hit almost page six with the second event, I decided that maybe finding a way to keep things a little more wieldy and less overwhelming for everyone involved would be good. If you're worried about missing anything, please track the !mod post tag, since that will all be tagged with that.

December 14-19: And A Happy New Year )

Howdy howdy, friends. Faith here, with what will be my last post as a mod of Asgard Eventide. This has been - really, a very upsetting and difficult decision to make, but effective immediately, I will be stepping down from my mod post, as well as dropping my PC and my NPCs.

Asgard has been my home for almost three years now, and I've been a mod for just under ( by a week! :c ) two of those years. It's been one helluva ride and for all the time and energy that it takes to manage a game of this size and nature, I can tell you sincerely it has been an absolute pleasure. My decision to leave is largely a personal one, as I think I need to step away from RP as a whole to focus on my health for awhile. I want you guys to know that I still love and adore this game and everyone in it, and I have very little doubt that I won't still hang around in the fringes to observe like a creeper with my nose pressed to the glass. It's going to be very very difficult to let go of this silly place.

Real quick, since I still have my title of the Loquacious One - I really want to thank AJ for being the best damn comod on the face of the planet. She probably has more than a few horror stories of my late night over-excited rants from new plot ideas and gushing over the amazing things our playerbase has gotten up to. It has been stupid amounts of fun working with her and she's going to take really good care of you guys through endgame. I also want to thank TJ and Nix for picking up their list mod duties and running with it like champions. You guys are all amazing, and I know this game will finish off in the best hands possible for the job.

I love you all big muches, and I hope I get to play with you again sometime in the near to distant future. Signing off for now, your resident King of Things. ♥!

Let's hop straight to business! Autumn here with some quick November game and plot information.

First up, thanks for putting up with my delay with getting this post up (though I feel like I say that every month, eek!) This month's event marks what truly is the beginning of the end for Asgard Eventide's plot, and the game itself is awesomely in a much different place than we expected it to be at November of this year! There are a lot of factors in play in game as a direct result of player plotting and organic IC investigation (which is possibly the coolest thing I have ever gotten to say in a mod post), so planning out - and changing - the rest of the arc for endgame took (and is still taking) some care and discussion. Not an excuse, just an explanation!

With that in mind, the only real announcement we have this month is the official endgame timeline, which will be as follows:

  • The latter half of November through mid-February will be dedicated to events that will bring the game's metaplot to a close, and will address Ragnarok and the status of the decaying World Tree. By the end of February, Asgard Eventide's main plot will wrap up for good.
  • Starting at the end of February and continuing into either March or April - depending on player interest and involvement - the game will remain open to allow loose ends to be wrapped up both ICly and OOCly. There will be events, but of a much different nature than the previous ones, and players will be invited to deal with the results of the plot's conclusion… whatever that may be!

Thanks again for putting up with our chaos. The event calendars for December and January will be going up soon with event dates (though not names or descriptions) filled in, just so you guys have a little of an idea of what to expect during the holiday season, since we definitely don't want anyone to be overwhelmed during one of the busiest times of the year.

With all of that in mind, the rest of November will begin with Thor's planned march on Thiazi and her kingdom, and will end with an addition to Asgard's resources and a small request from one of the gods.

Nov 14-21: With a Whimper )

Nov 26-29: Friends Indeed )

Plot Fast Facts )
There are two event logs for this, and they are both currently up: one for those venturing out to Thrymheim, and another for those remaining behind in Asgard. Remember that the bracelets DO work out of the city now, so characters will be able to communicate with them if they're gone!

As always, the calendar can be found HERE. If you feel the need to brush up on what Thrymheim is like or what your character might be facing when interacting with the Frost Giants, please feel free to refer to the Meet the Frost Giants page, or to use the comments here for your questions and/or plotting!

Hey all! Faith here with your plot event for the month of October finally! A million thanks to everyone that participated in the polling and discussion. We're doing our utmost to cater endgame to our playerbase and what you guys want from the game, rather than foisting plot on you and leaving you to be dragged along for the ride, but driving this wagon will take a little bit of muscle work! So thank you again for helping us help you, and for being patient as we work our way down the line!

That said, here's your plot event! The calendar is, as always, here and the plot fast facts are here!

In a wild turn of events, the player poll to determine the direction of this month's plot event actually ended in a tie! Official tallying shows 26 votes to lay him to rest, 26 votes to resurrect him, and 24 votes for hosting his soul in a Traveller's body ( and 2 votes for being super rude and using him like a weapon, rudest rude ). This was such an exciting race to watch, as our player polls have never come this close to each other before!

However, now we're dealing with the case of a tie! After discussing it amongst the mod team, we've decided we're going to host a repoll for the people that voted to host his soul in a Traveller's body. Those 24 votes will ( hopefully ) swing us in a concrete direction for this event. This does mean that the plot event will be delayed a little bit, but we're only going to let this poll run until midnight on the 19th, so thankfully it's only delayed by two IC days and will run Oct. 21-26. Thank you so much for bearing with us, and thank you even more for participating in this exciting event of ours!

That said, here's the new poll with only the tie-breaking options:

Poll #16050 still depressing, news at eleven
Open to: Registered Users, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 19

What should the gods do with Tyr's newly recovered soul?

View Answers

Put his soul to rest.
8 (42.1%)

Resurrect him.
11 (57.9%)

Only the people that voted for hosting his soul in a Traveller's body can vote in this poll! We will be cross referencing the results of the first poll with this one, so please be careful to vote with the right journals. The NPC post is still running here if you want to discuss it ICly.

Please remember to vote ICly and only vote once per character. The poll will be considered closed on Oct. 19 at 11:59PM CST. Let us know if you have any questions!

Hey all, and sorry for the delay in getting these events posted. I've had a busy time at work this month, lemme not tell you because it's super boring. October will be hosting our final horror event before the sprint into endgame, so let's gear up for one last nightmare! But first: a couple announcements.

First up, as per the poll held last month, we will be continuing to create district headers for event logs. We do want to remind you guys that use of these headers is by no means necessary and you can always feel free to create your own headers, whether it's for open locations or for specific groups or anything at all. The district headers are only there for convenience and can be used or ignored at your leisure.

Secondly, some changes in the martial law! Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Travellers in clearing out the black ice last month, the supplies rationing portion of the law will be removed. Curfew, the closed gates, and weapons registry will still be in full effect. Both NPC and PC businesses will be welcome to reopen their original functions, but will still be required to perform their commitment to the militarisation efforts as well. If there's anything you aren't sure about, feel free to ask!

As always, your calendar is here and the plot fast facts are here.

Oct. 7-10: All In This Together )

Oct. 17-22: Fear Itself )

Plot Fast Facts )

And that's it for the month of October for now! We have a big announcement for you guys that'll be posted at the end of the month. We hope you're excited! Let us know if you have any questions / comments / concerns / dirty jokes in the comments below, and remember to vote in the poll!

Hey guys! Yet another poll for the month of October, this one is pertaining to the plot event Fear Itself and will determine the nature of the event. This one has the potential to have some very big IC consequences, so I'm going to give you some more background information to think on before we get into the poll. To skip all of this and move straight to the poll, click here.

Background Information )

Which brings us to now! Zero brought back the information the gods needed to be able to draw Tyr's soul back out of Thiazi, but they've waited before making their move because the Frost Queen will know immediately once the spell is performed and they'll need to move fast afterwards to prevent her from taking Tyr right back. The decision for what to do with his soul, however, is being given to the Travellers both in thanks for their assistance in recovering him and because this will have big implications in the war. We want to write endgame in accordance with your decisions, and this is one of those big ones that will factor heavily into which direction the game moves in. Please do take a minute to consider the options and ask if you have any questions!

Poll Explanations )

Alright already, Faith, enough with the rambling. Give us our poll!

I really hope you guys aren't sick of polls yet because there will be approximately thirty million more before the game ends. Apologies in advance. This is a simple yes / no / other poll, though, which makes it a relatively easy one!

The topic for discussion today is event log headers. Awhile back, it was requested that we start making district headers for easier navigation through event logs that would span the entire city. This way, if your character was going to be in the Sigyn district, they could easily find everyone in the Sigyn district under that header. However, it was also argued that posting the district header restricts people to one place when they'd prefer to have their location open to the entire city. The headers aren't required for use, they're simply there for convenience's sake and can be used or not used at your leisure, but we do understand that their presence in the log might make you guys feel obligated to respond that way.

So! It's been long in debate whether or not the district headers are doing any good. When this was discussed on an HMD I think sometime last year, there were a lot of voices both for and against the district headers, along with a few other suggestions for alternatives, but no clear conclusion was reached so I've been posting district headers anyway ( when I remember to do so because I suck ). As it's been brought up for discussion again, I decided that the only way to reach a concrete decision is with a poll! Yay!

Poll #15932 off with her head!!
Open to: Registered Users, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 25

Do you want us to keep posting the district headers in event logs?

View Answers

Yes.
16 (64.0%)

No. We don't need headers at all.
9 (36.0%)

No. I'd like to see something else instead. ( Please explain in the comments! )
0 (0.0%)

Other. ( Please explain in the comments! )
0 (0.0%)

Please vote only once and this poll will be considered closed at the end of the month. You guys can feel free to use this post for discussion as you wish. We'll keep an eye on things so that we can figure out how to make these logs work best for you! Thank you for your votes!

So! In an unanticipated turn of events, the IC discussion about what to do with Satan ended up swinging in a direction we hadn't put on the original poll. We ended up having a vast majority of the conversation bring up the prospect of temporarily taking Satan's soul to determine once and for all whether or not he was telling the truth about being corrupted before passing judgment. IC development like this is exactly why we love running plots like this, so in the interest of encouraging that growth, we want to take a repoll about what to do with our traitor!

First off is the important decision of whether or not they should investigate further. This would require temporarily killing Satan to remove his soul and do a thorough examination to determine whether or not he was corrupted the entire time he was feeding information to Thiazi. This process would be painless and quick, a matter of maybe an hour or two before resurrecting Satan without any death consequences. Given that information, here's the first poll:

Poll #15899 Killers R Us
Open to: Registered Users, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 55

Can the gods kill Satan temporarily to determine his innocence or guilt?

View Answers

Yes.
48 (87.3%)

No.
7 (12.7%)

IF the gods are given the green light to do this, the results will prove his guilt. Not only was he not corrupted during the majority of his betrayal, he actually infected himself with Thiazi's magic by will and was never possessed by her at all! The gods and the Travellers can only find this out if they kill him first, which depends on the results of the first poll, but if they go through with it and find this information, it may or may not have an effect on your character's vote in his final judgment. To that ends, we're hosting a repoll of the trial's conclusion. Note that these results are only valid if the first poll swings 'yes'. We're mostly putting this here now to save time. Haha

This one is pertinent to Gasp Shock Awe, wherein one of the Travellers has not only been feeding information to Thiazi to work against the gods but actively attempting to sabotage the war efforts to bring Ragnarok into fruition. What a jerk!

But hey, that's Satan for you. Surprise!
