Hey guys! Sorry this is a bit late. Here are the chosen leaders for all the "groups" in the last plotting post! As a note, we didn't get as many leadership candidates as we thought (and in the watches not a ton of volunteers at all) so we only picked two official IC "leaders" for the first two groups and one for the Watches. We expect the watches will have a lot of coming in and out ICly so anyone is welcome to take OOC initiative who'd like to!

Medic Corps
John Watson (film)
Castiel

Army Engineers
Fayt Leingod
Rapunzel

District Watches:
Odin
Ririchiyo Shirakiin

Thor
Robb Stark

Loki
???(Data Roxas)

Sigyn
Lyra

Hel
Sophie Gargamel

Heimdall
Edmund Pevensie

Freyr
Eyes Rutherford

Freya
Mike Chilton

Baldr
Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad

The job of a leader ICly is to keep people organized and have a go-to for talking to the gods if necessary. OOCly is to set up plot posts and be active in plotting amongst the players involved in the groups. For non-leaders, you are welcome to join or leave these groups at will through the end of the Arc. Whether you're a leader or not, you are also welcome to plot with multiple groups and be around as much or as little as you have time for. These groups are not being mod-run, but if you would like NPC involvement or need to ask questions we're always available to help out however you guys need us! :) Feel free to be spontaneous and make some lovely new CR!

You may also use this post to do any plotting amongst your groups, though leaders are also welcome to make ooc comm plotting posts just for their groups if they'd like. If there are any questions, you can direct them to the Mod Questions thread below!

Hey guys! It's a little belated, but here's the October plots! Stick around afterwards, since there's an important reminder about our policies.

THE MILKENING )

FINAL ARC 1 PLOTTING BEGINS: UNEXPECTED ALLIES )

Please remember that due to this plotting, there will be no app round in November. Apps will resume their monthly schedule in December.

AND LASTLY, a reminder about our policies on OOC conflicts. If there is ever a case where you feel another player is bullying you or otherwise making you uncomfortable, you can always come to us with it. We do our best to be fair to everyone involved, and we are always available to mediate discussions between players who want to work things out between them or to discuss options for problems that have gone beyond simple mediation. We have no tolerance for serious bullying, and do not have a strike system with these offenses. While most cases result in a discussion and warning, severe cases of bullying or harassment can result in a ban on first offense.

Also, you are always, always encouraged to come to us with feedback about the mod team. If it's a mod or helper that's made you uncomfortable, please contact one of the other mods through their personal plurk/im/pms! We will keep your identity secret in any conflict where possible, and the mods are never above our own conduct rules.

While we're talking about this, we'd also like to officially lay out our policies on the player of objectionable/controversial/frequently triggering content. If you are not comfortable even reading about the playing of rape/abuse/etc, please stop here.

Our policy on these things is very simple. We do not police the content of threads in Asgard. If you would like to play situations of gore, abuse, drug use, rape, etc, you are allowed to do so. However, you must always comm lock and leave clear warnings for this content. If there is a warning, it's understood that those uncomfortable with the topic will not subject themselves to the threads containing it. You must also always, always ask permission and allow players to opt out of involvement with the subject, even if it means stretching ICness (in not having your victim character talk to an IC friend with a mun who is not comfortable, etc) or going otherwise out of your way. Pushing other players into playing these sorts of things or retaliating against them for declining to is an immediately bannable offense. We will not tolerate that kind of harassment under any circumstances, though you will be given opportunity to explain any questionable behavior before decisions are made.

On the other hand, harassing and bullying players for playing something you don't like is also unacceptable. You are welcome to think something is not tastefully portrayed and to talk about/crit on the subject, but if it crosses the line to bullying it will be handled just like any other case of harassment regardless of what subject was being played out.

In all cases of OOC issues, your privacy will be respected and we will make the fairest decision possible. We always do our best to keep the game safe and comfortable for everyone, so please never be afraid to approach us for help! :)

That's it for this month! Questions as always can be directed to the appropriate thread below!

Hi Assguardians!

I come to you today with a couple of updates!

First of all, we're in the process of updating the FAQs to reflect the changes in the world since game start and to incorporate questions that've come up since the last update. We'll also be updating the navigation page AND the sidebar navigation when we're done. One thing has been express added, however, and that is an additional canon update option. We've actually allowed a few people to do this already and since it's something that's been needed consistently, we're making it "official". Please go here to read about it!

Second, the PMs for positions in the Biological Warfare Plot have been sent out. If you signed up, check your PMs! If you didn't get one, you haven't been chosen for this plot. Thank you to everyone who signed up, whether they were selected or not!

And lastly, our big announcement! It is now possible to apply to play NPCs. NPC characters who the current mod team are unwilling or unable to play are now going to be up for application by regular players. Please do take into account that applying for an NPC is more like applying to be a mod team helper than it is like applying for a normal character. Making sure everyone can work together OOCly is paramount. Right now, we have two gods and a giant up for app. We'll be accepting apps for them as of right now, and the fact that it's a challenge situation is a given. The apps will be open until we've found someone we think will fit the team to play them. There's no exact time limit! We'll be sure to respond to any apps within 72 hours of them being in, though it could take us anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks to make a final decision.

Unfortunately in this case it is somewhat first come first serve. Instead of a deadline, we'll just be picking the first person that strikes us as someone we want on the NPC team. We apologize for the lack of super-formal organization on this, but we feel that's the best way for us to get going especially in a plot-heavy time for the game. We'll try to give a day or two's grace for people in different time ones to get a chance, but other than that it's going with our instincts to choose someone talented and right for the team. Perhaps a more structured process will be introduced when it's a less hectic time to be shuffling NPCs around!

In any case, NPC apps can be found here! Good luck to anyone interested!

31 August 2012 @ 05:23 pm
Hi guys! It's a little later than usual, but here is the monthly rundown!

First things first, we only have one big misc announcement right now. As of this AC, we'll be sending out some PMs to people who we've seen with troubling activity patterns. If you've been routinely using hiatus and extenuating circumstances to get past AC and slide out of strikes, you'll be getting one of these PMs. We'll be putting these players on a kind of "activity probation", where they will be asked not to app anyone new for a period of time and will have restrictions placed on their ability to get by ac on exemptions. These will probably not be very common and will have wiggle room for players who have serious reasons for the activity issues, but they will be going out!

Secondly, not an announcement but a warning that one will be coming: the possibility of being able to apply to play an NPC is even closer now! That should be our next modpost!

And now onto the plots!

Day 137-138 (September 1-4) will have a smaller player plot running. It's a bank robbery and the details can be found here. It's not a game-wide event, but we stuck it on the calendar since it involves major locations and didn't need any overlapping major plots.

The next one is the only big plot of the month, but is pretty big! Please please read the info on this plot as it is city-wide and you'll need to involve yourself in a smaller alternate plot to opt out of this one.

September 21-25: Biological Warfare )

As always, questions go to the appropriate threads below!

Okay guys, here is your sliiightly more detailed rundown of this plot. Most of it was in the original plot post here, but here's the rest of the info!

When the rain clears, outside the north gate of the city is going to be a fleet of wood and clockwork steam-powered machines! General war machine types of things like tanks and catapults and etc will be there, as well as a train that floats three feet from the ground and what appears to be a clockwork mecha (yup). With this have come the elves and their queen, who happens to be a very friendly young (3500 young) lady who is totally and completely not dating one of your gods. Not at all.

The elves will set up camp and there will be an open log for exploring! However, they're not going to let people do much with their stuff other than the train. This is because the train is full of building supplies and medical supplies to aid with the cleanup after The Darkness event business. They'll be polite people, mostly tall and pretty, who will be reservedly happy to help fix up whatever and whoever needs fixing. The queen will be grabbing Merlin and pulling him aside for a chat, and then the Travellers will have her side of things without filtering through the gods. The gods will also make a formal address on the 31st, so look out for that!

Now with that addressed, we have a few other misc things.

First of all, the player version of the Plot Notes Google Doc is now available! It should give you an idea of what's going on and has some juicy worldbuilding info as well. We'll be linking in in all the right places soon, and updating navigation and the like. We'll also be fiddling with the FAQs a bit to add a couple of things that have come up in questions a lot. Navigation on the sidebar will be including the business comm at least if not another important thing or two soon!

AND SPEAKING OF BUSINESSES! First of all, please welcome Jamie ([personal profile] makiri) as our new business helper! She is 100% in charge of player-run businesses, and her info can be found on the mod contact page.

One thing she already has for us is a convenient tag on the business comm for business the owners have left behind. If your character has inherited one of the businesses in this tag, or if you know the original owner wanted it closed/NPC'd, please let us know in the proper thread below! Characters inheriting businesses need to have set this up with the previous owner(s) or made it official with the mods already.

If you have any questions about any of this, please see the appropriate threads below and ask away!

25 July 2012 @ 04:16 am
Alright everyone! Now that the plot is here, here's a list of the body swap pairs from the randomization post. If there's an issue, see if anyone wants to switch or talk to the mods. Thank you!

Himari Takakura ← → Ethan
Sheryl Nome ← → Train Heartnet
Tokiya Ichinose ← → Rose Lalonde
Iceland ← → Ernest
Annie Cresta ← → Mikhail Blanc
Tsubaki Kasugano ← → Bran Davies

Now have fun and crazy shenanigans for all!

23 July 2012 @ 09:05 pm
Hi guys! It's that time again! The schedule has been updated to include August, so it's time for our monthly post!

First of all, a few reminders:
  • Tag your participation! A good portion of you are not remembering to tag posts with your characters' names and that is a problem. There may be some AC changes coming up soon that will make it even more important, so please remember to do this! It doesn't take a lot of time and it is a rule.

  • A mod post is coming up soon that will be introducing some changes and proposing discussion on others. You might want to check out the mod feedback thread on HMD and weigh in on anything you think needs to be addressed, as those are the issues we're discussing as mods right now. There will be changes coming up, so keep an eye out!

  • Upcoming dates of note: HMD is up now until 12:01am CST on July 26. On july 26, Activity Check will go up, as will the mod post mentioned above. Both of these things are mandatory so make sure you've commented to them by their deadlines! Reserves open July 29.

  • The bodyswap event starts July 25, and an option to randomize your partner is being offered here. Even if you have one partner planned you can have up to two total, so you can enter to be randomized for your other swap.

And with those things covered, it's on to the events!

August 15-22: The Darkness )

August 28-30: Thunderous Voices )

23 July 2012 @ 09:52 pm

i should be shot for using/making these memes, seriously

That's right, the giants of Utgard are taking a page from Alan Wake's canon, and creating an eerily similar replica of the main antagonist, the Dark Presence (also known as the Darkness). It's been far too long since they reminded the city that they're preparing for war, so what better way to ruin the day than to cause havoc and literally destroy everything in Asgard? 8D

Yeah, I thought you might like that.

Starting August 15th and lasting until the 22nd (the evening of day 128 to the morning of day 132), Asgard is going to be overwhelmed at first by the creatures and things controlled by the Darkness, mostly at night, until the night begins to bleed into day. By the end of the fourth night it will be entirely night, with complete destruction, death, possession, and a group of kickass fighters trying to hold off Taken, ravens, poltergeists, tornadoes, and more! HOW EXCITING.

Ready for some angst and terror for a few IC days? There's a lot to cover in this plot, so hold onto your hats, kids- it's gonna be a bumpy ride.

Details under the cut! )

Hey guys! The body swap event in coming up in two days! For those of you who wanted a randomization option, here it is. On the morning of July 25 we'll post a list and you'll be welcome to ask for switching then if your partner doesn't work out.

If you'd like your character to be randomized, please comment with the following form:

EDIT: Remember that the event lasts two days ICly and thus you can have up to two partners in the event. We won't randomize anyone twice, but if you have one already-plotted partner and you want to randomize for the second day that is completely ok!

24 June 2012 @ 10:45 pm
Hey everyone! It's that time again: the monthly event rundown!

As usual, first we have a couple other things to cover.

1. As a reminder: Activity Check goes up on the 26 and Reserves are already open!

2. We've made a decision about the canon point field! We'll be changing the table template to incorporate canon point and look a bit cleaner in the next day. At that point, we'll be asking all players to comment to be added again. However to make things easier on everyone, we'll include the form in the AC post! That way it'll all be in one place and it'll be easier to remember to fill it out. That should streamline things for everyone. We'll also place the new form on the new taken page so that incoming characters in the July round will be good to go.

And now for the events! July is a busy month and the last month before the overarcing plot kicks in a bit more for awhile, but the events are lighthearted and easy to skip for the most part, so don't panic!

Special Event: A Hairy Situation )

Player Plot: Arbor Day )

House Contest: Asgard Olympics )

Special Event: Body Swap )

That's it for this month! Questions should be directed to the mod comments below as usual!

29 May 2012 @ 04:50 am
Hi guys! It's that time again! :) One of the June events is super close, so read this asap! BUT FIRST, we have a couple of standard reminders.

1: Remember to tag your posts! This includes posts you comment on and logs you participate in! It's important for various reasons, so we'd really like it if you guys would do your best to keep up. Also, always make sure when tagging other characters names into a post that you use their existing tag if there is one to avoid having extra tags. If you notice a typo tag or a character with two tags, let the mods know so we can clean it up.

2: Remember to post your drops/hiatuses! It is a major pain in the butt when people drop without using the drop post. Please don't idle if possible! Dropping makes things easier for everyone, and it's only one short form. Do not make an ooc post instead of commenting to the drop page. OOC comm drop notices are great when you want to make them, but they are not a substitute for using the forms. The same goes for hiatuses: we'd rather you take a just-in-case hiatus and then actually make activity than not take a hiatus and then have to ask us to make exceptions for you. We're not obligated to say yes to those exceptions and we only will if you had a genuine extenuating circumstance, so it's better to make sure your hiatuses are officially posted.

3: Make sure your Taken List info is correct! Again, we swept journals that weren't on the taken list the other day. While most of these were drops and a few were mistakes (and please let us know if you were one of those mistakes), there were also some that were new characters who never commented to the lists. We also had a few cases of people putting their personal journals, canons, or other things instead of the correct usernames, which were all manually fixed while working on the sweep. Just be careful when you fill out the form and be sure you do fill it out. Same for rooming!

That's all for reminders! And now, on to the June Events!

June 1-2: Act Your Age! )

June 10-17: Rising Waters! )

June 23-27: The Trouble with Camping! )

And that's all for June! As always, mod questions comments will be below, so hit us up if you're confused!

26 May 2012 @ 11:08 pm
As we flood the OOC comm. We're sorry for the delay, but as the Competitive Hugging event is about to start (on May 28), we're going to need to tally the hugs!

By the rules of the event, a hug "counts" only when someone effected by the event gives that hug. Whether the person they hug is also effected or not is irrelevant. Hugging NPCs does count, so a ballpark number is totally fine! For more details, check out the event post linked above.

Comments to this entry are screened. Please use the form below to comment. You can post the form multiple times in one comment, or make a separate comments for each character -- it doesn't matter which. We'll tally these up on June 1 and announce the winning house, so you have til 11:59 pm on May 31 to comment here!

Thanks, and have fun hugging!

30 April 2012 @ 12:04 am
Hey guys! It's that time again! First, we'd like to remind you that Activity Check is almost up! You have til 11:59pm CST of May 1 to submit your activity, and all activity has to have taken place in April (meaning you have about 24 hours now to put the last few comments on those straggler threads). Remember that even exempt characters or characters taking strikes need to comment on time or they will be on the sweep list. Thanks!

Second, the schedule has been updated to include both May & June overviews! June event dates may still get shifted if something comes up between now and the last week of May, but it should be all set! Also, note that we've added a quick reference for IC dates. Using it and some math, hopefully you'll be able to tell when things are happening according to the native calendar! :)

Third, we are in the process of revamping the info pages, mostly in design but partly with updated info. The FAQ has been mostly reorganized, but it's missing the links to other pages etc. For World Info, what's written up so far is currently on the Story So Far page, but the info there will be moved to the World Info FAQ and the Story So Far page will have its timeline updated. It will also include a meter of how colourful the city's gotten, and info on the way the "story arcs" of the main plot will be laid out. Also, the Houses & Powers info is getting a major redo with more in-depth details on both the gods and their powers, so look for that coming up hopefully before apps open! If you have any questions or subjects you think should be laid out in the FAQ, feel free to ask them on the main FAQ page and we'll work them in if possible!

And now, on to the May events!

Special Event: Musical Mania )

House Contest: Competitive Hugging! )

That's it for this month! Questions can be directed to the mod questions threads below, as always!

08 April 2012 @ 07:56 pm
Hey everybody!

First of all, we'd like to ping everyone that the NPC Post ending the Fog plot is up, and includes our choice for the Hospital Expedition later!

Second though, is an unfortunately kind of negative statement. We've noticed a lot of posts going up recently that seem to be neglecting some of the game info. We know there's a lot to read, but please do your best to keep up with it. Since we've put a lot of work into it, we'd really appreciate everyone trying to stick with it. We aren't strict about details, so we don't need small things like what's in what store and who can work at what NPC-run business or major locale checked with us, but we would like the major info followed just for the sake of avoiding confusion.

This includes the arrival scenario, the way the bracelet works, etc. The info can easily be found using ctrl+f on the FAQ, and the arrival scenario is even rehashed on the premise page. There's also the story so far page, which includes how the natives reckon time. Remember that since the game runs on 2 OOC days = 1 IC day, dates aren't going to match up. The OOC date is completely irrelevant ICly, and in fact there's no way for characters to know what OOC date it is. We're working on splitting the FAQ into smaller sections to make it easier to navigate too, but for now just searching for major keywords ("bracelet", "justice", "tech") can find pretty much everything within a couple of clicks.

Speaking of tech, we'd like to remind everyone that technology is limited the same way that powers are. If your character was carrying a portable forcefield, a phase gun, or some other technology beyond what is available to consumers in the real world, it will either stop functioning on arrival or it will be replaced with a similar item of acceptable technology levels.

We're not going to come in and ask anyone to change their posts or reprimand them, but it would be really helpful to your mods and your fellow players if you could all try to keep the major world info and game mechanics in mind. Thanks!

29 March 2012 @ 03:36 am
Oh no! It's time again for the monthly event rundown! As has been warned here and there, April's a month that's heavy on the overarcing plot, but all but the first event is easily opted out of and none of them are too painful ICly. As a note, since it's a major part of the premise, the number of events isn't likely to decrease, but we're going to be making a lot of effort to have them more easily ICly ignored so it isn't such a scramble to keep up. We'll see how it works and make adjustments accordingly!

Also, it's time for us to announce our new helper mods! We've chosen Yana ([personal profile] playerkills & [personal profile] naicha) and Manda ([personal profile] wristbands & [personal profile] selfestheim) to help us out with keeping up with lists and whatnot. They'll be added to the mod contact and set up soon, so give them a warm welcome! :)

And now for the main attraction: plots!

April 1-8: Tricks in the Fog )

April 20-21: Quarantine )

April 26: Spring Party )

That's it for April! As always, the schedule includes the dates of all events, apps and reserves opening, and AC starting as well as weather information and which Day of the game it is. Remember, apps open on April 1, so be prepared! AC also ends at 11:59pm on April 1 (a busy day, wow), so make sure you've commented!

02 March 2012 @ 08:10 pm
Hi guys! It's that time again! That's right, the schedule is updated, and Tosshi's here to explain What's Happening This Month!

As a break for us ICly an OOCly, March is going to have very little going on plot-wise. However, April is an entire month of slow-building, mostly in-the-background overarcing plot stuff. Don't panic! The actual "events" will be small, so it won't be a lot of involved stuff. It's just a slowly-progressing thing.

But that's next month! For March, the only major event is one based on a legend and related Shakespeare play: The Ides of March!

Event Info: SOME VIOLENCE )

Besides that, there is one other smaller, more individual event going on. It's time for the gods to prove a point

More Info: VERY VIOLENT )

That's it for March events, but we have another couple of updates.

Misc Things )

Thanks for tuning into the monthly Big-Ass Mod Post! :) Questions, as usual, can be asked in the appropriate threads below!

17 February 2012 @ 10:08 pm
It's that time again! Time for what? Another declaration of war, that's what.

This time, the Frost Giants have something to say, and they want all of Asgard to hear it.

Starting The 18th, and lasting until the 21st (IC days 39 and 40), the temperature is going to suddenly drop. A cold wind will blow, bringing mostly-unintelligable whispers through the streets. If you listen close enough, you can get the message; the Queen is angry, and her time of sitting silently on the sidelines is over. She's acting, and she's doing it in a much more dangerous way than the flashy messenger the Fire Giants had to send.

Roaming the streets are what appears to be large fairies made of ice. They're roughly the size of a two-year-old human child, though they look much older. They're extremely beautiful, whimiscal, and all-around just pleasant-looking. Your characters may be fooled at first, but they'll soon find out that these are not friendly visitors. When sighted by these creatures, your characters will be attacked. Do be careful--too much physical contact with these little fairies will give you some nasty frostbite. Be sure to be bundled if you're going out, everyone, because you'll want to be protected from the sharp claws on these suckers. They'll shred your clothes, be wary!

Someone who is decently trained in combat could take on one or two at a time (If your character would be level 5 in an MMORPG, these monsters would be level 6). They look like they're made of ice, but they're much harder to break than normal ice would be. You don't need to use your powers to kill these, though--if you pick up a crowbar and beat one in the face until it breaks, it will die just fine.

Once they've all been killed, which we are assuming will be by the end of day 40, the temperatures will rise again and the wind will stop.

For more information on the weather changes, refer to the calendar/schedule in the mod journal!

Thank you.

06 February 2012 @ 11:42 pm
OK GUYS. First of all, update on rooming and sweeps: we're finalizing the sweep list now, so look for that in the OOC comm here soon. Rooming is a slow process due to volume of codework and stuff, so we're working on that too!

For now, though, here's that slightly late Valentines tally!

If your character is sending anyone valentines through the Valentines Plot, please comment here with the following information:

Character Name & House
Recipients' Names, Houses, and # of valentines sent

Here's a handy but optional form:

Remember, your characters can send as many valentines as they can write names on, so it's totally conceivable for them to send one person 50 valentines or whatever they'd like. We'll be tallying aaaall the sent valentines to determine the Ball Court!

PLEASE SUBMIT THESE BY 11:59 PM CST/GMT-6 ON FEBRUARY 10. After that, we'll be closing the tally so we can get them all counted and contact the winners privately on the 11th! If your character wins a spot on the Court but you don't want to or don't have time to play in the log, you'll have the option of bowing out so we can pick someone else.

ICLY, your characters will find out about the event the morning of! This means the banners talking about the event and the boxes for sending valentines will show up at midnight, or OOCly at 12:01am CST/GMT-6 on February 14! :) If you'd like to actually write out what your characters' valentines say and stuff, that's fine. The best vehicle for spreading the love would be the IC inboxes we've asked everyone to have set up on their character journals (remember, threads in IC inboxes should be game canon unless otherwise noted, and game canon threads do count for AC!) You could also make a network post listing what all of your special valentines said, if you want. Basically you're welcome to handwave or write out whatever you want however you want. Just remember that once addressed the valentines disappear and end up in the locked boxes in the recipients' rooms! The boxes will come unlocked when the ball starts at 8pm (of the IC day), so valentines can be ICly read at that time! :) HAVE FUN!

Comments to this entry are screened, but you can still ask questions to the mod questions thread and we'll unscreen those threads. We'll unscreen everything else once the log goes up and the Court is announced.

01 February 2012 @ 08:15 pm
Hey guys! Just dropping some hints on that riddles! remember to submit in the next 4 hours! If no one guesses some of the answers, we'll attribute them to random houses (using RNG) when we put up the results! :)

Odin: it might be kept on a pillow

Thor: it's "modern technology", guys. Also, what sort of lightning/"light" could fascinate a drunk person?

Loki: you wouldn't want to touch it

Sigyn: the skin is worth more than the fruit

Hel: you might buy these for an October holiday (or to scare your mother)

Heimdall: He might look a bit like a rapper...

Freyr: this is a really messy pet

Freya: an accessory that brings the eyes to the assets

Baldr: funny that it can mean "love" and "death"

AND ONE MORE SET:

Odin: a symbol of leadership

Thor: it's a lamp you want to touch

Loki: it's packaged in a vial

Sigyn: also used in Greek myth, it's an item heroes sometimes quest for

Hel: a plastic version of a flying animal

Heimdall: they aren't pearly white

Freyr: you can eat them or keep them as pets!

Freya: my eyes are up here, thanks

Baldr: hang it at christmas

Hi guys! It's February 1 now, and you know what that means -- the monthly event rundown! But we have more changes in store for you guys since we've made it two months, so open the cuts to read on!

Scavenger Hunt! )
